Burnley head off for their final pre-season matches this weekend, when they head to a training camp in Austria. For more information about this and about Richard Chaplow read on.

Burnley head out for their two games in Austria and Germany with 16 players on the books. But the two French trialists have not been taken and it now looks as though Steve Cotterill is not pursuing them further.

The club did get a boost with the news that Richard Chaplow (19) has signed a new 4 year contract, to keep him at the club until 2008. The news is a sign of commitment from the board who had previously reject overtures from Leeds and is a sign of great loyalty from Chaplow.

The club also alluded a little to their strategy this weekend when they admitted they are sacrificing the wage of one player, to expand and develop the background staff. With ice baths, new training regimes being developed, the club is really try to cut the number of injuries and increase preventative measures. Such a plan is shown with the search for a full time masseur at the club.

We will of course keep you updated with all news from Austria.
