The Longside looks ahead to the two games that the Clarets will play in this week in Austria. IMPORTANT NEWS FOR ANY FANS IN AUSTRIA OR ANYONE WHO KNOWS ANY ONE IN AUSTRIA
Firstly, Burnley's game tonight with Wacker Burghausen will now take place at the Voralpeustadion in Voecklabruck not at any other previously advertised stadia due to weather conditions.
Burnley Football Club are currently making their first tour to the continent for over a decade with Austria the destination. The first team squad flew out from Birmingham on Sunday and arrived in Salzburg without any delays, they then travelled the 70 miles to the small town of Obertraun, where they will be based for the week, and begun training yesterday morning at 7 am.
The facilities in Obertraun are excellent with The National Sports Centre, where the squad are staying, offering 2 full sized football pitches, an all weather pitch, gym, swimming pool, running track and a indoor training pitch.
The first match of the tour takes place this afternoon not in Ebensee or Gmuden, after both destinations were ruled out yesterday and last week respectively, due to the poor weather the region has suffered with over the last week. Our opponents are German team Wacker Burghausen who will have Jesus no less on their side. Wacker beat fellow divisional rivals Plymouth comfortably the other day and will provide a stern test for Steve Cotterill's men.
On Saturday the Clarets will play the second game of the tour in a small town just north of Salzburg called Freilassing, our opponents will again be German with TSV München 1860 sending a team over the border.
The squad currently in Austria is the full 1st team squad with the recent trialists being excluded from the party. The squad will arrive back on Sunday and will have just a few days to sort out any teething problems before the opening game against Sheffield United.
