Burnley Reserves 0-0 Carlisle Reserves

The Clarets picked up their first point of the new Pontin’s campaign with a draw against Carlisle Reserves. Hopefully this will improve Burnley's recent form as they lift themselves from the bottom of the table.

Brian Jensen started his second game this season for the reserves, as he looks set to face a year in the slums of Burnley’s small reserve side. His first touch carried on from last seasons form by letting an easy stop bounce off his chest but the ball was scrambled clear before Carlisle could get a shot on goal.

Then The Clarets bombarded the visitor’s goalkeeper with shot after shot from 16-year-old Northern Ireland striker Kyle Lafferty but the goal just wouldn’t come.

The Clarets carried on putting pressure on Carlisle and the only threat from the visitors was a few crosses that only Brian Jensen could make a mess of. Our forwards had shot after shot saved by Kieren Westwood, until Matthew O’Neill put a good low shot past the ‘keeper only to be denied by the post. Good performances from Kyle Lafferty, Alex Taylor and Marc Pugh all putting in good performances whom surely are all pushing to be on the bench for the first team. Great attendance- 156! Come on Clarets fans, get down on the Turf!
