Premiership Finished

The final league games in the Premiership were played yesterday. The day had been billed as 'Survival Sunday' with Norwich, Southampton, Crystal Palace and West Brom all fighting for survival.

If Norwich had beaten Fulham they would have stayed in the Premier League at the expense of the other sides however they were thumped 6-0 at Craven Cottage. Southampton were briefly out of the bottom three but Manchester United came from a goal down to win 2-1.

At the moment that United had got the 2nd goal at St. Marys, news was coming through from the Hawthorns, that West Brom had taken a lead against Portsmouth. They were briefly out of the bottom 3 until Crystal Palace came from a goal down to lead Charlton at the Valley, they were safe until they conceded a goal 9 minutes from time which meant they would join Norwich and Southampton in the Championship next season.

St.Marys Stadium will be one of two new grounds for Burnley fans to visit next season(the other being the KC Stadium) and it was good to see Richard Chaplow enjoying the celebrations at the end of the game. Many Burnley fans questioned his decision to move to a side that was coming straight back down however it does now look to have been a good decision made by the former Claret.
