Clarets Trust Helps Influence Ticket Policy Change

The Clarets Trust have helped a major change in the well discussed "surcharge" policy. 'The Longside' believe this is further evidence its posters should join or renew with the Trust

 

Trust Helps Influence Change Of Ticket Policy

Burnley FC Chief executive Dave Edmundson today announced an extension to the match ticket discount period, commonly known amongst fans as the ‘walk-on surcharge’ of £3 if tickets were purchased on the day of the match.

Starting with the match against Hull City on Friday 28th October, supporters will have until 5pm on the day of the match to buy a ticket at the lower rate. This will apply to all future midweek games, with the lower price available until 12 noon on Saturdays.

Speaking on the club’s official website, Mr Edmundson said:

“ …. we have listened to the debate, of which there has been very good constructive and informed comments from the Supporters Consultative Group, the Clarets Trust and various other people.”

As well as approaching the club in its own right, the Clarets Trust also has a representative on the SCG, so we are pleased to see that the club has taken our points on board.

Asked for comment by the Lancashire Evening Telegraph today, outgoing Trust Chair Steve Corrigan said:

“Whilst we don’t think it’s a perfect solution, we are very encouraged that the club has listened to us and acted. This follows on from the dropping of the online ticket booking charge after the case we made against it, and shows that the Trust has already established a meaningful dialogue with the club”.

Following on from the scrapping of the online booking charge after a strong argument put forward by the Trust, this is further tangible evidence that The Clarets Trust has a voice which the club is prepared to listen to.
