A glittering line-up of stars, including Cher, Mariah Carey, Britney Spears and Art Garfunkel, will be strutting their stuff in Accrington soon, thanks to the Clarets Trust.

A glittering line-up of stars, including Cher, Mariah Carey, Britney Spears and Art Garfunkel, will be strutting their stuff in Accrington soon, thanks to the Clarets Trust.

As part of our mission to promote Burnley Football Club within the community, the Trust is staging a ‘Stars For A Night’ competition in conjunction with Accrington Clarets, at The Stanley Club in Accrington on Thursday 1st December. The event will be in the upstairs lounge, where the bar will open at 7pm and the show will start at 8pm sharp. A share of the proceeds from the event will be donated to Pendleside Hospice at Reedley.

The budding stars have all been sponsored by friends and family, and other entrants include Martine McCutcheon, Elvis Presley, Tammy Wynette and Anastacia. There will be a panel of celebrity judges including famous ex-Claret Willie Irvine (who will also be signing copies of his biography ‘Together Again’), and BFC’s Marketing and Communications Manager Edoardo Abis. The winner will receive a framed ‘platinum’ disc surrounded by photos of them performing the winning song. A great party atmosphere is expected, and there will be a raffle with prizes donated by local companies. The evening will be rounded off with a free supper.

To show the amateurs how it’s done, there will be a guest appearance by locally based star Rebecca Stone (pictured above), who will be Andrea Corr for the night, a role she performed in a hit musical tribute to The Corrs, which recently toured the UK. Rebecca will also be on the judging panel.

The compere for the evening will be none other than BFC’s famous warm-up man, Jeff Brown, I say Jeff Brown will be the compere for the evening.

Tickets, priced at only £4 including supper, are now available from the Tourist Information Centre at Burnley Bus Station, The Stanley Club (Stanley Street, Accrington), or you can buy online by clicking HERE. Tickets can either be posted to you or collected on the night. Seating is limited at this cabaret-style event, so please buy your tickets in advance.
