Today chaps and chapesses you get a special treat, instead of reviewing the so-called 'Quality' Sundays [Thats a laugh!], you will instead get a summary and review of the match reports from three of the 'Red Tops'-Sunday Mirror, The People and News of the World
Man of Match
By common consent, probably because we also announced Ade to be Man of the Match, all the 'Red Top' papers seem to agree where players ratings are provided! Ade rates an 8 in two of the papers. Only the News of the World which seems to like the Clarets less than the others rates him 7 on a par with Goalkeeper, Grant

All About Spicer's Goal
The People: Spicer adds the Magic Ingredient-John Spicer,Burnley's Mr Versatile, just cant keep his name out of the limelight.....Spicer pounced six minutes before interval, nipping through a sleepy Leicester defence to head a teasing cross from Duff past Douglas. SC revealed afterwards that the goal was a reward for Spicer's hard work on the training field 'Hes been working at it and that looked pretty good to me out there today,it was a quality goal!'
The Sunday Mirror: Clarets Taste the High Life- '....the game was settled with a gem of a winner!...Leicester's tall defenders had been dealing with such crosses with aplomb but this time they took their eye off the ball as they allowed Spicer just enough room on the penalty spot to get in a header which flew into net off the far post'
News of the World: Hot Spicer- Flashing header on 40 mins from a Duff cross that this time did the trick-and left SC grinning!
About the Disallowed Goals
The People: ‘Burnley danger man, Ade Akinbiyi had what looked like a perfectly good goal ruled out for pushing’
The Sunday Mirror: ' Akinbiyi smashed the ball into the net but to the astonishment of manager SC the goal was ruled out.'It was a perfectly good goal, their defender got on the wrong side of Ade and the rest was history'
News of the World: 'Burnley were unlucky not to double their lead straight from the re-start. Akinbiyi got the better of McCarthy before hammering in but ref Messias harshly whistled for a foul
The Positives
The People: 'Cotterill's improving side with seventh win in nine games'
The Sunday Mirror: 'The Championship's Top Scorer,Ade, has become a new man since his switch from the Midlands to Burnley' and ' The stopper on a month's loan from Derby..made an excellent debut'
The Negatives
The People: ' Leicester dominated the second half' 'Craig Levine was about right when he said his side were worth a point'
The Sunday Mirror: ' It may not have been a classic match, and in all honesty City had much the better possession and played most of the football......'
Other Interesting Stuff
The Sunday Mirror: 'The Foxes may not have been giant-side status any longer but they are the most physical side Burnley have faced this season. Cotterill said 'They are a very big outfit. They have a lot of players well over 6ft, but my lads stuck at it and the performance by our back four was immense in keeping them out in the late stages.
News of the World: 'The Clarets chief revealed: 'It was a hard-fought win and I thought it would be like that.I also thought Spicer might do something as he had been excellent in training.We've been talking about making his heading better and his goal looked good to me' 'I felt we created the better chances and could have wrapped things up earlier. But Im delighted we are in top six-can the season end now?'

These reviews in the papers looked at today were generally very fair and complimentary to the Clarets. The News of the World for some reason has rated our players performances much lower than the others which seemed somewhat unfair and incorrect although their report was well-balanced. I could have swore you know though we had another disallowed goal! You wouldnt have known reading these papers! For the first time in many weeks we also have a unanimous forecast of an home win in this case against Crewe next week, although what fool would suggest otherwise based on current form?
If I get some time, I will also put up what the 'Qualities' say and if you have some interesting columns from other papers please supply these to thelongsider@yahoo.co.uk
