Burnley Youth 4-1 Shrewsbury Town

It took seconds to take the lead with Turner getting his first from a headr within the first. A lovely cross from Dale Underwood gave the assist. We could, and should, have done better though when on the tenth minute we let them take a goal back with a free header in the box. We stayed on top of the game though and the only surprise was getting only 1 more in the first half after a great display. It was just after 30 minutes, this time Turner took a ball, turned and and shot home. 2-1 at the interval.

The first twenty minutes or so of the second half were much scrappier and we took time to settle again, but when Ali Akbar, playing very well again, crossed from the right, Turner completed his hat trick. Cayne Hanley then got himself into the six yard box, and after another cross from Akbar got hs first and Burnleys first.

Needless to say Terry Pashley was a happy man! "It was a good first half performance by the lads. We played particularly well and deserved to be in front, probably by more goals than we were. Overall though, it was a deserved win for us and we were pleased with it."

Burnleys Team was Armstrong, Henry, Casey, Akbar, Reilly, Blackler, Underwood (Craig), Platt (Young), Hanley, Turner, Rodriguez (Kay). The goal keeper was a trialist called Scott Armstrong, replacing Mark Crossley who had to have surgery just before Christmas.
