Sheffield Wednesday v Burnley

This Saturday sees the Clarets travel to Hillsborough for the Championship fixture with Sheffield Wednesday. Confidence around the club at the moment has been lifted thanks to a victory and a draw at Turf Moor in the past week.

Wednesday meanwhile picked up a massive win at Wolves last weekend, considering Millwall also won, it really was a good result for them, and keeps them five points clear of Milwall and the drop zone.

The Clarets go into the game with John McGreal still struggling to recover from his calf injury, and Micah Hyde is still not 100% after a knee injury. Hyde is expected to be on the bench again as he was on Tuesday night, and Wayne Thomas and Danny Coyne as we know are out for the season.

Steve Cotterill has also hinted that he may be tempted to experiment with the side going in to the final few games, as he did towards the end of last season with Coyne and Jensen, but is pleased with the competition for places that the club currently possesses.

Cotterill said:

"It's not a good time to be out of the team at the moment,"

"It's nice to have a bit of competition and you can't beat that.”

"We've struggled all season for competition and now we've got it, it's up to them.

 

For Wednesday, defender Steve Adams and midfielder Jon-Paul McGovern could return to the side having recovered from recent injuries, with John Hills expected to keep his place after recovering from injury having been substituted early on against Wolves.

The Clarets have won on the last two visits to Hillsborough, and with Wednesday looking to pull away from the relegation zone at the expense of Millwall they are sure to put up a good fight. Let’s hope we can make it three-in-a-row at Hillsborough and continue our recent mini-revival.
