Burnley Football Club welcomed nine new players to its staff on Friday evening, when the new batch of apprentices signed on. The following is a press release from Burnley Football Club.

Burnley Football Club welcomed nine new players to its staff on Friday evening, when the new batch of apprentices signed on.

 

Head of Youth Development Vince Overson, Youth Team Coach Terry Pashley and Child Protection Officer Jeff Taylor were present to oversee the signings of Adam Kay, Rob Turner, Dean Stott, Thomas Bradley, Lewis Craig, Ash Young, Alex McDonald, Jonathan Sergeant and Joe O’Neill.

 

Seven of the new arrivals have come through the Club’s Centre of Excellence and have played for both the reserve and youth teams last season. The remaining two players hail from Ireland where Burnley first-team stars Chris McCann and Kyle Lafferty originated.

 

The players all sign an initial two year apprenticeship contract with the club and they will spend three and half days training and one and a half days at college during the week with their Youth Alliance games taking place on a Saturday and reserve matches in mid-week.

 

Speaking about the new arrivals, Vince Overson said:

 

“We’re delighted to welcome the lads on board. They have all done exceptionally well and deserve the two year contracts because they have worked extremely hard to achieve their goal over the past few years and are a credit to their schools. We hope they can all do well for the club.
