In this section of Wednesday Wonderland we take a look at how Wednesday are hitting the news: either in newspapers, or on other media websites. These articles are totally independant from Wednesday Wonderland and are not the views expressed by our site.
from The Mirror:
MICHAEL VAUGHAN has the freedom of the city of Sheffield, but he must have wished he had been anywhere but Hillsborough on Saturday as his beloved Owls were caught, bowled and leapfrogged in the table by Millwall.
The Ashes captain watched wretched Wednesday give the Millwall strikers the kind of freedom Vaughan has been awarded for beating the Aussies.
Vaughan was on the pitch before the game, but perhaps he should have been in the dressing-room giving the Owls a pep talk - though not everyone would have recognised him.
"I wouldn't even know Michael Vaughan if he stood in front of me," said Irish defender Graham Coughlan. "If he had a hurling stick in his hand I might have more idea.
"I'm only kidding - I've been half-Australian for the past few weeks. Of course, it would have been an honour to meet someone like him."
It was certainly no honour to watch this bottom-of-the-table fare, which offered an extra kick in the teeth for Wednesday fans - both Millwall goals were scored by ex-Sheffield United strikers.
from football 365:
Sheffield Wednesday manager Paul Sturrock has revealed "several breaches" of the club's code of conduct left him with no option other than to sack Adam Proudlock.
The Owls boss refused to elaborate on the exact nature of the breaches, but insisted the decision to terminate the 24-year-old striker's contract was in the best interests of the club and the rest of his players.
"It's disappointing for everyone involved but there was a stand that needed to be made. We have rules and regulations that he has breached," Sturrock told the club's website, www.swfc.co.uk.
He added: "He has qualities and I'm sure he's going to come back and bite me on the bum.
"But discipline is a vital part of the club. I've proved that. I'm disappointed I've had to do it and I don't like doing it.
"But we have another 25 players who are under the same disciplinary codes and it was important for them. There's not really any more to be said."

On-loan midfielder Chris Eagles is not eligible to play for Sheffield Wednesday and so Jon-Paul McGovern could be recalled. Otherwise boss Paul Sturrock has no new injury or suspension problems. On-loan striker duo Jeremie Aliadiere and David Bellion could lead the line for West Ham to give Marlon Harewood and Bobby Zamora a rest. Christian Dailly, an unused substitute at Craven Cottage at the weekend, could be restored to the starting line-up.
