New Wednesday Wonderland contributor David Parry gives his thoughts on the current search for a striker at Hillsborough. After numerous rumours circulating over the past few weeks, Paul Sturrock is still looking for that final piece of the jigsaw, despite signing Gaby Agbonlahor on loan.

Who do you think Paul Sturrock should sign?

After Cardiff Sturrock had less time than most managers but had no impetus at the start of the season to try and sign strikers. He seemed like he was more interested in strengthening the defence and whilst our defence was weak and is now relatively strong, is there really a need for 10 defenders in our first team squad?

We only have two fit strikers at this time and while Sturrock is doing his best why did he not try and sign strikers during the first transfer window? We have 2 workhorses in Peacock and Graham and 2 faster better finishers in MacLean and Talbot, but with the latter out for the foreseeable future I think that Sturruck has got to sign a finisher, and for me this points to Blackstock, Best or Trundle. Lee Trundle has been saying in the press that he does not want to leave but if an offer was accepted then I think he would come. Tyson is a no for me because not only is £750,000 a lot of money you have to look at who is below him in the goal scorers for league 2 by only 1 goal, a certain Grant Holt, who I certainly remember being a spectacular gamble and flop for us, so to take a gamble with that sort of money would be crazy.

Our midfield because of Whelan, Eagles and of course Brunt is our strongest department at the moment and this is what is keeping us in games but when they have a flop in form we need some strikers who can get us goals out of nothing. Kenwyne Jones did it last year and we need someone like that who can do it again. I would want Trundle and then when January comes we should take Iwan Redan on loan from Willem II. If he is good then we can buy him for next season.
