Dom injected the only excitement into the match when he took the half –time hotdog challenge. He proved you can wait for the whistle, buy a hot dog and return to your seat before the match restarts. Meanwhile fans sang "I would rather have a burger than a goal" to the early leavers.

Report on the second half.

It wasn’t until the final quarter that anything happened to concern Arsenal supporters; the theory that referees favour big clubs took a battering when Aliadiere was fouled by Warnock on 76 minutes, a clear penalty that the referee missed. Perhaps Hughes’ imitation of Jewell, contesting every throw in from the by line intimidated the referee. Referees favour big clubs – my arse.

Blackburn played like a pub team, and Arsenal played like a team that can’t beat a pub team. One half was practising their lines for Sunday, and the other half for the CL. None of them seemed to have their mind on the game taking place. Maybe too many changes, maybe the wrong balance, maybe a hang over who knows. Players are human, but they needed to show more urgency, but they didn’t do that until 87 minutes when Brad Friedel kept out a Henry shot. The ball pinged around and was finally cleared.

It was a case of a light bulb shining brightest just before it goes out. Nothing of any importance happened again after that.

Apparently after the game Cesc teased Hughes about the fact that Mark had played for Barcelona and that Blackburn didn’t play like Barcelona. I don’t care about Cesc dissing Hughes. Hughes has encouraged the obnoxious Savage, and keeps up the myth that referees favour Arsenal. However Cesc should be more thoughtful – after all the Gunners hardly covered themselves in glory, and certainly didn’t remind me of Barcelona either.

At least everyone is well rested for the two very important games ahead.
