On UEFA giving a Brazilian, who spent his childhood in far off Croatia, a man who suffered 18 months out of football with the most brutal injury, two thirds the punishment of his assailant, and six times the punishment of someone booked for the same offence during the game. Well done you noble kangaroo court, single handed you have defended the glorious name of football.
Here is a poem in your honour:
Let UEFA tremble - What? that thing of silk,
UEFA, that mere white curd of ass's milk?
Satire or sense, alas! can UEFA feel?
Who breaks a butterfly upon a wheel?
Yet let me flap this bug with gilded wings,

Arsenal.Com Official Statement in reply is less poetic:
The Club is disappointed with Uefa’s decision to suspend Eduardo for two Champions League matches starting with Standard Liege on September 16.
We have been informed that we will receive a “reasoned decision” from Uefa by Thursday of this week. Once we receive Uefa’s rationale, we will make a decision on the next steps.
We have been deeply frustrated by the perfunctory and apparently arbitrary process that Uefa has followed in this instance. We believe it is imperative that Uefa’s explanation for its decision provides clear and comprehensive standards that will be consistently enforced. It is also critical that Uefa provides specific details of the processes it plans to adopt in reviewing all games under its jurisdiction.

Completely ludacrious. Diving has been around for decades. Its only during crucial times like when you are 2-0 up against a shite rugby style team that it suddenly becomes worthy of a ban?
Eduardo to my knowledge has NEVER dived before in top league football or international football so why is he suddenly the villian? When there are the likes of Ronaldo, Gerrard, Drogba, Nani, Rooney, Robben, Robinho, I could go on for hours... all getting away with it week in week out?
Wenger is right it is a witch hunt and we should fight to the last bitter against it, bring video evidence, testimonies from ex refs, the lot, and lets see why this punishment, which is looney when you think of it only warrants a yellow card during a game, but TWO FULL GAMES when it is over?
A ball that clearly crosses a goal line (i.e. crystal palace recently) cant be reviewed after a game, the most clear cut thing you will ever see, yet they have the nerve to judge eduardo's questionable dive?
Its not the fact he will miss games, that is irrelevant, its the whole issue of why does he deserve a ban over every other dive that has gone unpinished in europe we must fight against?

People are seeing through this - in todays Guardian a national newspaper readers voted 54 % to 46 against banning Eduardo!
When you consider the hysterical with hunt in some quarters that is a very good result.

If UEFA are making an honest decision and not a predetermine outcome then why is going to take till Thursday for them to let Arsenal know why they have banned Eduardo, especially considering that Arsenal only have 3 days to decide if they will appeal the ban - now not sure if that means they have to appeal by Thursday or Friday.
They bit I like most about Arsenal's response is the club asking UEFA to outline how they intend to review all games under their jurisdiction, cos for Arsenal this is the big one, they have already made it clear that if Eduardo was banned they would not stand by and let it be a one off, so now once UEFA tell us how games will be reviewed to catch others who dive or decieve a ref Arsenal can put pressure on them to implement their porceedures. UEFA have made a rod for their own backs and I really hope Arsenal have the bottle and the will to beat them with it, I hope our newly appointed legal counsil is good at her job and can force UEFA to ban others left right and center

What are the chances of Arsenal taking Uefa to court over this? Uefa will have cross all the T`s and dot all the I`s or it could come back and bite them on the ass.
Since the end of WW1, 1919, when the FA restarted its 4 tier football league, with Arsenal fc in the 1st div, there’s only ever been one club to have never been relegated from Div 1/ EPL.

I don't disagree with this decision, eduardo is right to be punished. I don't see how anyone can really disagree with that in principle.
Sure ask why us? but don't expect to get an answer or even what you consider valid justification from Uefa. Their hand was forced after charging eduardo, to then not punish him would have made them appear weak even if it does set a dangerous precedent.

So a Celtic player who dives gets a yellow - which isnt equal to a ban.
A man who breaks your leg gets 3 match ban.

A guy dives in a high profile match, deceives the ref who then awards the penalty, and guy has this guilty look all-over his face that you don't have to question the fact that he dived. Guy gets banned for his unsportsmanlike conduct.
Just where is the wrong in that? Just because Rooney or Drogs have not been punished before does not exonerate him; I support Arsenal but I also support taking action against cheats, whichever team they come from. All we can pray for is that the same zeal is applied to other players in the future.

Its better to grow than remain stunted. I suggest you avoid verbal tricks that insist anyone who disagrees with you hasnt grown up and stick to the merit of the argument.
The context is simple, you dive in a match and the ref sees it you get a yellow. Now a yellow is not a ban.
Now thats the rules.
All I ask is that the rules apply to Eduardo the same as anyone else.
Fair and equal treatment is a reasonable thing to want.
