At last a clean sheet, and although this was a well deserved win the team was probably lucky not to concede, but a clean sheet is not to be sniffed at (One more silly pun and your fired. Ed). So far this new term Arsenal have conceded 1.6 goals a game, extrapolated over a season that would be 60 goals.
Fortunately the team has scored 3.4 goals a game, a total of 17, and one goal more than Liverpool who have played an extra game. If it was to carry on this way (and of course it won't, exactly) Arsenal would end the season 129 to 60 goals against, with a points total of 68.
Vermaelen would be leading scorer with 23 goals, he would finish the season at centre forward, Song at centre back and RvP playing alongside Cesc. Sorry I digress, but there could be a point to be made somewhere in these ramblings.
One point could be that we not are missing Adebayor, at this stage last season we had scored six less, of course it's early days but this team does seem to have a lot of goals in it. In particular Eduardo and Eboue could be hitting the net far more often.
As for Vermaelen the man certainly knows where goal is, and I just love his mad stare. His second goal was a good enough to be in Henry's top ten and his heading ability is superb. Yesterday was a walk on the park, hardly any effort required. Wigan were never in it. Arsenal rarely had to break sweat, and once it was 2-0 the result was never under doubt.
Once again it is hard to judge the season's prospects from one game. Yes Wigan didn't seem that hard to beat, but until the first goal went in they were doing their best to frustrate Arsenal. Only after the first goal did it appear that easy. When Man U beat them 5-0 it was greeted as the second coming, but you can only play what you have in front of you.

It was a sunny day at the Grove, and the away end almost empty, the few Wigan fans that had come down in a hired mini bus, tried to stir it up, but I couldn't hear them from my end. At one stage they tried to launch an attack on 4,000 Arsenal fans, but a steward told them to sit down and they sheepishly returned to their seats.
Arsenal fans retaliated by singing, "who the feck*ng hell are you", which was complete nonsense, they should have sang, "where the feck*ing hell are you". The tiny turnout was a complete mystery - had the second mini bus broken down (Is there a point to these ramblings? Ed)?
There is a point to these ramblings, bear with me and I will get to the substantive. The point is this, according to some press reports Eboue's goal celebration was an attempt to inflame the Wigan fans. Well it might have been if there were any in the vicinity. The few hundred, if that many, were huddled in the top left corner of the away enclosure.
I doubt if Eboue was even aware of their existence. No the press missed out on the real wind up story. The reason Eboue was over the other side was that he was celebrating a goal that Eduardo was also claiming. Surely headlines such as "Arsenal split over goal claim", "Eduardo and Eboue at loggerheads", etc .......... (Fill in with your own version of a bitter and twisted headline) would have been far more sensational.
Of course they are trying to get one in for their mate Adebayor, and get Eboue on a charge. Perhaps they haven't noticed that Eboue has never played for Wigan and that there is no history between him and Wigan fans. In addition he was actually at the end he scored in.
Secondly Eboue handled the ball in the area; annoyingly not only the ref, but also Wenger saw it. Dam, no Wenger myopia jokes, never mind let's get the old cheat label out. Hence Eboue cheating controversy headlines. What controversy? He received a yellow, and he apologised for doing it. Utter tosh.

Vermaelen is just a class act.he is really competing with terry and vidic for the top scoring defenders honors.he even looks like vidic to me.
as for eboue's antic i won't comment.
Just drop Eboue will you Wenger.
Surely Arsenal cna't be that desperate as we are facing Bototm-12 teams till we meet Chelski on 29=Nov.

yeah I sure did..and we should ave gotten something from that match...did you watch the match?
Man city isnt that good..they've gotten some results..but Im not impressed...United gifted them two goals yesterday and TOTALLY dominated them...they'll be right where they belong this year..7th
I swear the day that I have to fear fulham..I will give up on being an Arsenal supporter...there are no 'easy' games in the epl..but we've sure made a few of them look that way
believe me, we will dominate the game and everyone will say fulham didnt show up
