Usmmanov goes as mediocrity awaits

In a largely expected revelation, the Uzbek Billionaire Allisher Usmanov is ready to invest in Everton to re-unite with his drinking buddy Farhad Moshiri.
He was quoted by Bloomberg as saying "Should there be a proposal or a possibility to invest in them with good potential returns, I would consider the deal." Meanwhile our own Billionaire vampire is sinking his teeth deeper and deeper into the jugular of our club, slowly killing off fan ownership and involvement for good. It's quite sad to see really, knowing that Usmanov is now likely to go and spend a fortune on Everton to help turn them into a real force while Arsenal will likely continue to stagnate under Kroenke's ownership. I don't necessarily think that Usmanov was right for Arsenal. In fact all of these billionaires are as bad as each other drawing clubs for their pleasure. But if Everton start to compete at the highest level I doubt any of their fans would care how it occurred. Meanwhile, we would be forced to look on enviously as we cling to the hope that our team comes good under a new manager and executive team. The billionaire issue is unfortunately, the way it is these days. It's making football less fun for me, knowing that the only way to win anything is to be the richest guy in the room. Leicester's story was lovely, but quite obviously a fluke of circumstances unlikely to re-occur. And for the large part, The super rich are the ones doing the best. Going forward I just don't see a scenario other than Kroenke turning into Brewster from Brewster's millions (as against Scrooge McDuck as he currently is) where Arsenal win the league or Champions League. Sunday’s match against City demonstrated what we already know, a large gap has opened up between Arsenal and the top four. It will need at least three transfer windows to close that gap. But don’t hold your breath, it's more likely we will experience a significant period of mediocrity and radio silence from a club that can now ignore our cries and questions.

The lack of investment over the summer was disappointing considering we're one of the richest clubs in the world. The defence needs serious attention and players like Xhaka and Moustafi should have been shown the door. Emery needs to get those two to improve significantly but most of us doubt that'll happen.
Kronke's son might be more involved in the near future which might be positive depending on how much pocket money his old man gives him. The next few transfer windows will give us more clarity on the direction the club is intending to take.

I understand the gloom but a little perspective is needed at the present time. Kronke has always had the major hand at the club for a decade or so. Usmanov was effectively a silent shareholder so little influence did he have. We have spent quite a lot of money on players in recent times and with a more astute manager than Wenger we may have had better returns for our money in terms of selling players on and requiring better on field talent. I firmly believe we'd have won the league at least once if we had ditched Wenger ten years ago. We always needed a Toreira type player and now we have one, that alone is cause for some small optimism.
It's a matter of being patient and hoping that Emery is an excellent manager and that the owner doesn't neglect the footballing side of the club entirely.
