22 And Out - Player ratings v Saints

Well that was brutal. We got what we deserved. We're bad enough defensively with an actual defence, let alone a bodged together one. Awful, awful performance.
Ratings:
Leno - 5. Did make some saves. Don't think he could've done much more with the first two goals but he's had a shocker on their third.
Lichtsteiner - 5. Looked a bit better when he switched to right back, but didn't impress me.
Koscielny - 3. Culpable for all three Southampton goals, all pretty basic errors as well. Way too soon for him to be playing at this level after a big layoff.
Xhaka - 5. Amazingly not our worst defender today.
Bellerin - 5. Meh.
Torreira - 6. Not as impressive as he has been.
Guendouzi - 5. Mixed bag.
Monreal - 6. Good assist. That Valery looks good.
Mkhitaryan - 6. Scored twice.
Aubameyang - 5. Should have scored a couple.
Iwobi - 4. Played a part in Mkhi's first, otherwise rubbish.
Subs:
Lacazette - 6. We looked better going forward when he came on.
Ozil - 5. Not impressed.
Maitland-Niles - N/A. Not on long.

He should have gone with monreal and kos at CB and played Kolasinac in a back 4 and gone for it to score goals, along xhaka and Torreira to sit more
I can't believe how defensive Emery is some times.
If Laca; Ramsey and Ozil all started that game I doubt we'd have lost that game.
How Iwobi and Mkhitryan are starting is beyond me.
This is a perfect example.
Iwobi didn't play great but wasn't shocking, and had a huge part in our first goal. Gets a 4.
Ozil didn't play great but I guess you could say wasn't shocking, but pretty much caused their winner. Gets a 5.
Wish people wouldn't be so biased

I mentioned in the match the that I thought ozil was a waste, and that taking off q player who at least wants to try and beat his man and drive forward for a player who wants to hide was crazy. I think we give him a pass because he's ozil. Like how name alone is worth 2 assists.
This is a perfect example.

I thought Iwobi had a really bad day at the office personally. The pass to Monreal for Mkhi's goal was literally the only positive I found in his performance.
Despite this, however, if it'd been me I'd have had Guendouzi off for Ozil, not Iwobi.
I've seen people on Twitter trying to defend Ozil, saying despite only being on the pitch for 20 minutes he created however many chances. I can only recall seeing him running a couple of times. Really bothers me he is on so much money.
We can said that if Aubameyang had taken one of those 3 clear scoring chances …
For the life of me, I can only see one redeeming feature why Iwobi is a starter is just his work rate is better than Ozil and Ramsey.
Other that than, Iwobi is just a waste of space.

People like Henry and Bergkamp weren't Ronaldinho or Messi-like skilful, but their game were super enhanced by their excellent decision making, vision and technique. that's why they get so many assists besides goals. And more importantly, that's why we were so good as a team back then.
Can you teach Iwobi this decision making? I am not sure.
Anyway, Emery got it all wrong with the personnel and system on Sunday. He must have had his reasons, but he didn't get it right. Can't totally blame him though, the many injuries forced him into that particular selection and tactic.
