Pitiful Arsenal Player Ratings at Forest

By Gunnersingh
January 9 2022

This game show's the deficiencies of the squad.  The squad player's are not good enough and we had nothing in midfield or attack.   The Liverpool game now looks huge. Ratings follow:

Leno 6- MOTM.  Didn't have much to do but made 1 good save.

Cedric 1 - Shocking is an understatement.  Should never play for the club again.

White 2- Rubbish.  Got skinned a few times and didn't sprint back for the cross for their goal.  Takes an age on the ball and kills the tempo.

Holding 2 -  Couldn't pass water.  Slow and weak!

Tavares  2 - Done nothing right.  Thought it was harsh to take him off when everyone else was shite as well.

Lokonga 2 - Couldn't handle the tempo and made no passes forward.  not good enough to play midfield for a big club

Patino 2 - Lightweight.  Don't get the hype.   Still young though but he needs a loan.

Saka 3 - Tried but but nothing paid off.  Should have chipped the keeper.

Odegaard 4- The only player who looked like he wanted the ball.

Martinelli 3- Done nothing.  Needs to be smarter when up against a quick full back.

Nketiah 2-  Not good enough.  No link up play.  Just waits for taps and missed a easy chance.

Tierney 2 - Caught out of position numerous times and couldn't get back.  Their goal was just 1 example.

Subs
Laca 2-  No impact

Tavares was appalling and should be disciplined

Lets see if Arteta will be as hard on Tavares as he had been with Auba.

Think that would be a bit OTT. He only threw his gloves away.

I agree he was shocking but so was everyone else.

Good grief. It was petulant and that's all. Don't know why you'd want him to be exiled for that?

Gunnersingh1 that's an absolutely pathetic attempt to try and blame Tierney for the goal. We were attacking and a very sloppy ball in midfield led to a turnover. Tierney was exactly where he should have been the whole time.

Why was he jogging back and not sprinting? I blame White and Cedric more for the goal but Tierney needs to improve his stamina and positional sense as well.

Zero chance of Tierney making it back to have any influence on the goal. Nothing but a petty agenda on your part GS.

Your ratings are ridiculous.
Every game it's just about your dislike of White and Tierney.

You're 100 % right that I have an agenda against Tierney. Why wouldn't I have an agenda against a player who doesn't sprint back and lacks stamina and positional sense?

Agree with Eboractos and BG, your ratings are becoming increasingly embarrassing and ridiculous. Tavares was the worst player on the pitch by a mile

Yes, he is young but I don't understand the Patino hype either.

Have to agree.
He looks like he'd get bullied in kids games.
He looks a long long way off being a top player at this time.
Might as well have a young proven strong championship player on the pitch.

The only thing embarrassing and ridicoulas is your standards for the players and club.

Tavares gets a 2 as he played 1/3 of the match.

Cedric was easily the worst player over the 90 minutes.

I was expecting much more. People said he's better than Wilshere was at the same age. He's not even close.

From what I've seen Salah is a much bigger talent than him.

On a side note that Forest RB was the best player on the pitch. Worth keeping an eye on him.

Close run thing between Cedric and Tavares for worst player on the pitch to be fair. The issue with Tavares was that his head didn't seem in the right place right from the off. I thought subbing him before half time was harsh but by leaving him on you run the risk of him costing us badly. Perhaps Arteta wanted to make a statement to both him and the other players?

That was awful. Turned up arrogantly hoping a rotated side might waltz to an easy win. Forest turned up with legs in their side, flooded our midfield and weren't going to let us get way with half-arsing it.

Patino didn't get into the game at all. He clearly isn't ready for the first team physically or mentally, which is fair enough at 18, but I also felt his starting position was too high and wide of Lokonga constantly. Whenever we've tried the single pivot, be it Partey, Xhaka or Lokonga, it hasn't worked.

My concern is that we've let Maitland-Niles go before bringing in a replacement, and we now have a game every 3 days with only Xhaka and Lokonga. Seems like poor management. Also, Chambers ended last season and started this season as our first choice RB. Fair enough if he is on the way out and/ or has fallen out of favour, but I would've much rather seen him than Cedric and I'm sure many would agree.

Agree Djed Spence was the best player on the pitch. Talk about hunger and physicality. On loan from Middlesbrough and as was evident yesterday evening, can play on both sides.

Apparently Kolasinac was considered a potential midfield option for the Forest game. 🤔

It was interesting that on Arseblog today that they had an amicable discussion about Tavares. Now I cant claim I agreed with them, but to crudely sum up it was being suggested that he wasnt as bad as was being alleged, at least not when compared to the rest of the team. Of course that is not saying much is it? It was a very poor performance by nearly all concerned. When Tavares went off we continued to give the ball off. Maybe Arteta took him off to encourage the others.
Maybe I overreacted, maybe a lot of us.
But I think it means that the main issue can be missed which is we now have a midfield crisis.
That Leno is a great shot stopper but he cuts the options coming out from the back, we missed Ramsdale as sweeper.
Eddie is not going to make the cut, he adds nothing to the game when not scoring, and he never looked like scoring. It was far too early in Patino's development to expect him to play advanced midfield in a tough game.
Just have to hope our players get back from Afcon, over covid and injuries and in good shape asap

All the pundits on the Web thought Tavares was terrible and rightly deserved to be dragged off.

"𝗜𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁. 𝗜𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗱, 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗻𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴."

I thought it was the right thing, but on the Arsecast they were more even handed. Its probably fair to point out quite a few could have been hoiked off.

I put this loss squarely on Arteta who clearly underestimated Forest. Nothing against Patino but u can't start an 18 year old rookie in a game against Championship opposition as Championship teams tend to be very physical and he is clearly not ready for such level of physicality. He should have been on the bench and maybe have Chambers start in midfield partnering with Lokonga. Should have started our strongest team as that was a must win game. Ditto for this coming game against Liverpool - start our strongest team possible save for Leno who should be given a run in the cup games.

Artetac took out Tavares thinking he was the only pbm on the left side without realising, a bit like Son against us, that their RB was an unbelievable player. No matter who played there, it rant going to work all night.
He would be a great addition to this squad to replace cedric, chambers and AMN as a Fullback option.

Everybody looked terrible because Lokonga was terrible and he was alone on top of that. Partey was taking on and skipping past 2/3 City players to play others through. Just goes to show how bad midfield is without him, inspite of his erratic passing at times.

I no don't blame Arteta. Ppl can't expect us to try and hang on to the top 6 spots in the PL till feb end and really go for it after that and also challenge for the two cups.

We aren't going to win any of the cups. Way too many better teams. This way we can hopefully secure top 6 and challenge for 4th.

We will get beaten both by pool and spurs, there is no need to be surprised by it .

Even if we sign peak Kante, he isn't immediately going to come in, learn the system and produce a performance to beat Liverpool over two legs and spuds in their backyard. So temper expectations now for a month and half or prepare to be disappointed

Agreed, I think the target this year is top 6 and next season top 4. We are mssing players to AFCON but not only that but to Covid and injuries. We can expect a bumpy month until the ship rights itself
