Rice MotM Ratings V Manchester Utd

Feels great to beat Utd and to go in to the interlull on a high,and 3-1 against the old enemy was decisive . It was also great to see Rice score his first and very important goal for the Gunners.
Ramsdale 5- Poor weight distribution for Rashford's goal and positioning. Almost gifted Rashford a 2nd when he should have caught Martial easy shot.
White 3- Cooked by Rashford and poor passing. Shouldn't play against Utd as he gives Rashford confidence.
Saliba 7 - Good but should have stepped out more for Rashford goal.
Gabriel 8 - Warrior. Shouldn't even be a question if he starts.
Zinchenko 8 - We are simply a better team when he starts. .
Odegaard 7 - Extra point for the great finish. Shot a few times when he normally passes.
Rice 9 - Grew into the match and scored a very important goal. Real leader.
Havertz- 4 - Nothing come off and fluffed a great chance.
Saka 5- Poor. Couldn't take on Dalot once. Looked injured.
Nketiah- 7 I actually thought he was quite good. Ran Lindelof raged at times.
Martinelli 8 - Was sensational first half. Needs a goal though. Less impact 2nd half.
Crowd 10 roared the team on immediately after the first goal conceded
Arteta 9 subtitutions well picked and timed

Nelson NA
Jesus 8- great composure to sit down Dalot and slot the ball away.
Vieira 8 - Another assist.

I was at the game today - great atmosphere and you have to admire the never give up attitude of the team.
Ramsdale 6. One mistake away from losing his place I think
White 6 generally ok but Rashford had the beating of him -
GS may have been right that Tomi might have been better to handle Rashford
Saliba 8 Scarcely put a foot wrong all game
Gabriel 7.5 Good to have him back
Zinchenko 7 good till he ran out of puff
Rice 9 very good game - so good defensively and scored the key goal
Havertz 6 I donโt get the excessive negativity about him - did a good Job in midfield
Odegaard 8 very good goal and worked his socks off

Nketiah 6 very quiet - never looked like scoring today

How is havertz getting in over viera, trossard, Jorginho, or honestly anyone from the academy? Iโll take the 3 points but thatโs a United team in disarray, playing with a 36 year old. Should be performing better. Lucky not to have been down 2-1

Martinelli did well to win all the corners but the corners were poor.
This team struggles with basic things like crossing, corners and getting off shots.

Crosses were absolutely terrible again. Pro footballers and can't take corners etc is a worry.

He didn't have the best of games but that moment is what Arteta plays him for basically. To make good decisions on the pitch , keep things ticking and for defending from the front. He is closely involved in most of the presses where the opposition turns the ball over.
He is obviously lacking in confidence as can be seen by his mis kick when he got the chance.

Martinelli got so much joy down the left because both Kai and Zinchenko allowed him to get one v one many times as they have intelligence to move the ball quickly wherever there is an advantage.
Its a different thing Martinelli was not able to take advantage of those positions and also didn't have the intelligence to return the favour to pass to someone else when they are in great positions. An example of this when Martiny ignores Kai's lung busting run on his outside and instead of putting him in (Kai would be ahead of the entire back line on the left, would really be able to cut back a pass to saka, Odegaard, etc) and instead Martinelli rice to play an extremely low percentage pass himself.
You see glimpses of this even in Saka. Saka decision on when to play Ben white in versus using him as a decoy to cut inside is almost always wrong.
That's why Trossard gets so many assists. The others are pretty bad when it comes to efficiency in the final third in terms of passing and picking passes to the best place peopl.. Most of the time they pass it to their mates or the captain, irrespective of who is best placed.

Anytime someone has to be like โx player is actually doing a lot of stuff that you canโt see and that you donโt understandโ the truth is that itโs an excuse and the player isnโt really doing much.
We often said the same thing about ozil. We made excuses for him. No other club or fan base did and he found himself on the bench for the rest of his career.
Havertz is having a shocker. I am rooting for him to turn it around. The fact that he couldnโt score ONCE in the mls skills cup when a mls player then scored every single volley was a bad omen.
I love a redemption story. Loved xhakas and am enjoying vieras

You can pull up all my prev posts before Havertz was signed and i had said the same thing. That wouldn't buy him , irrespective of the price. I wanted Macallister.
But the difference is that i can completely understand why Arteta wants him. I don't particular enjoy Arteta's style of play but that doesn't mean I don't understand why he wants a particular player playing a certain role.
When you have players like Martinelli, Nketiah who can only play with their head down 90% of the time, you need players like Havertz, Odegaard and Rice to make good decisions on the pitch otherwise you will end up giving the ball away too many times.
We should have signed a better 8 but Arteta and Edu didn't buy him just for the left 8, but for his height, pressing as well ability to play across the front 4 positions.
And irrespective of my personal dislike for the player, I can see that.
