I couldnt watch the 2nd half but I can confirm Rice and Zubimendi and Trossard And Gyokeres and Timber and Gabriel and Calafiori and Raya and Saliba were passing the ball forward.

Eze was passing the ball backward A Lot.

Trossard and Gyokeres and Rice = Wow.

Saka putting in some poor performances lately.

Saka had to score one of those two chances.

But pretty much agree with the ratings.

I predicted 4-0 win

Gyokere's "niggling injury" meant that Arteta decided to close down shop in 2nd half and just game management not to exert players unnecessary. And yet Zubi "felt something" and was substituted.

Merino was dire and really, playing Andre Annous or Merino will make no difference to that lineup since we are in total command at midfield.
Except with Merino playing deep in midfield, we setup a wall in midfield.

Fair play though good ratings

This game signaled what is to come when playing against Bottom-14 teams.
Parker setup 5-4-1 low block to stop Arsenal from playing.

Credit to Burnley as they refused to sit back and well organized to attack Arsenal as an united block to press Arsenal in our half.
Arteta decided to sit back in 2nd half to manage players from exhaustion, confident in our ability to keep a clean sheet, helped by Burnley poor final balls.

We need Saka to be firing on all cylinders against Sunderland next week.
I will not start Saka midweek and let Nwaneri starts at RW.

6 - Trossard - minus one point for being indiscipline and hot-headed.
Incident #1 - After being rough-up by Walker and dumped on the ground, in the next play or two, he charged into Walker from behind to get evens.
Incident #2 - Again, he was roughed up and bundled over and lost his head by lashing out with both feet. Luckily it did not connect whether by intention or accident, but he should keep his cool and played for the team instead of feeding his ego.

Like a few seasons ago, can't recalled correctly, but I think we were leading Man City 2-1, when this ass.hat kicked the ball away at almost the stroke of half time, 2nd yellow card, and we played with 10 men and lost out a win at 98th minute to a John Stone goal.

Can hardly wait for Madueke and/or Martinelli to return after International Break to replace him and keep this undisciplined player on the bench.

For all his good works, these 2 incidents are not conducive of being a team player, and a big letdown for those players who played for the team, remained calm and disciplined.

6 - Gabriel - minus one point for that panicky sliding tactic at the dangerous area with virtually less than 15 seconds left to play in injury time. Looked like under a highly stressful situation, he reverted to kind with those panicky tackles of past seasons before he matured last season into a world class player. One felt that there is always an error in him with reckless tackle giving away a penalty or freekick around the box.

Why Saliba is rated above him is just one simple fact that he keeps his calm always and not error-prone like Gabriel in a stressful situation.

And when a player does not respond to physical intimidation, he is deemed 'soft'? Trossard did not get carded for his troubles and I am sure Walker got the message.

I gave an opinion some time back that although I have not lost faith at all but he needs goals... Botton line he was bought to put the ball in the back of the net..
If a full back is constantly out of position and or keeps getting beaten he faces bye bye...

He was set up Saka for 2 chances.

Your view is far too simplistic. Our number 8's don't create chances (From open;play ( and that is one of their jobs roles.

Gyokeres is keeping 2 CB' Occupied. He' works harder than any striker - Look at the stats. He's scoring the goals we said we don't score.

I rate him highly.

Assists: 0 in his last 21 games.

I don't like this take at all. Scoring goals is part of his job, but his main job like everyone else, is to find ways to help us win games. This is the best run we've been on in ages, and hes started every game. He is doing a ton of work for us, and scoring a decent amount of goals. He has the 3rd most goals in the league with 4.

Giroud score ZERO goals in helping France win a world cup. How many people do you know that think he shouldn't have been playing, or that care that he wasn't scoring?

Quite agreed.
Gyokeres is playing like Havertz, being a nuisance in the box, creating chaos and occupying at least 1 or 2 defenders to open up space and prevent double-marking Saka or Martinelli/Trossard/Madueke.

The difference is Gyokeres is a Centre-forward who is a proven goal scorer, a flat track bully and always at the shoulders of defenders to spin off them.

Havertz is an attacking midfielder, a space hunter with a knack of finding space in the box, and in a goal scoring position, but not as clinical as Gyokeres.

Arteta attacking options are unpredictable now and has plenty of different attacking permutations to field, depending on what type of opponents we are facing.
Can hardly wait to see what this team can achieve when a fully fit squad with Saka, Havertz, Gyokeres, Madueke, Martinelli, Trossard, Eze, Nwaneri and Dowman are all available for selection.
Not forgetting Annous who may have a Breakthru Season.

So please, and I don't mean to start an argument...
What exactly don't you like ?

True he has done well, I've agreed.
But a striker has to be judged on somthing... especially when he was bought for his goalscoring. Work ethic is laudable but does not necessarily win games. Goals do. Again true if we had a side comprising lazy S.o.B 's we would get nowhere but Vik without goals (and note again I have not criticised the guy - in fact supported him all the way), is akin to keeping Eddie in its way.
I see nothing wrong in accountability and responsibility. The whole is greater than the sum of its parts, granted... every part has to do its job however.
You mention France... Yep they won the World Cup with zip from Giroud, but would we be so kind to him if they did not win it ?. Think not.
Nothing will alter my opinion, I' m afraid, if you are a forward we need more than effort, we need goals too. Its all fine and dandy when you are winning, but come the 0-0's and the unexpected losses and its a different story.
See our friend who went to Merseyside to make a dream ticket. Again doubtless he will come good but now questions are being asked.
In the last 2 out of the last 3 seasons when the pressure was on we blew it, by not taking out (beating by scoring more goals, if you will) lesser teams, hopefully this season will be different. Who was primarily bought to make that difference ? Vik

That's because football is a simple game....it's only complicated by those who want to make it that way. (over complicated) Why so ? You tell me.
Incidentally I rate Vik and wish we could adapt more to him.
