Henry in Pulp Fiction Beano

The Beano has scrapped an entire print run of 200,000 copies of its comic after a cartoon strip was deemed likely to cause offence.

The cartoon included a character in a kit very similar to our very own Thierry Henry.

However the character in the Ball Boy story was called Henry Thierry, was French, wore a red football jersey, and had a shaved head (Very subtle, and very different Ed).

In one scene the character is depicted as being sent off in a match before running down the street semi-naked.

Beano editor Euan Kerr said: "In the cold light of day we felt it might cause offence and we did not want to do that so we replaced it. We thought it was safer as we always try not to offend anyone. There were certainly similarities to Thierry Henry."

He believed that none had been distributed and that the 200,000 comics had been pulped.

Thierry Henry's agent has not made any comment on the story.
