The Academy won their second game of the season yesterday at Cobham beating the Youth of Sheffield Wednesday 1-0 with the goal coming from 17 yr old Israeli centre-forward Ben Sahar who was signed in the Summer.

The goal came on 30 mins when Sahar ran on to an inch perfect pass from Ricardo Fernandes before rounding the goalkeeper to finish in style. Sahar was later booked for diving in the area and coach Ruud Kaiser was convinced it was a penalty.

To complete an impressive performance from Sahar he hit the post and also forced the Wednesday 'keeper into a fine flying save from a header. Tejera was also shown a yellow card.

Coach Ruud Kaiser said of Sahar's goal, "A marvellous goal, a great assist and a great goal."

Of the game Kaiser continued, "We played really, really well in the first-half, good football. When we didn’t score the second goal in the second-half we stopped playing, and for the last ten minutes had to battle to get the result.

"They didn’t give in, they battled, but I’d have preferred them still to pass and move. I think they got tired. If we’d have got the second goal we could easily have gone on to get more. But we have to get that goal.

"But it was a good start, we played good football which is really important for 50 or 60 minutes."

Last season's Football Icon winner Sam Hurrell didn't feature and hasn't appeared to be involved at all so far, perhaps Kaiser doesn't rate him!
