The Reserves got off to a flying start in the newly revamped Barclays Premiership Reserve League South last night at Aldershot Town FC, by beating near neighbours Fulham, 4-0.
Goals from Captain Jimmy Smith, Scott Sinclair (2) and Phil Younghusband scored all within the space of twenty-eight second-half minutes, and to be fair to the Fulham lads the second-half sending off of central defender Zakuani, probably helped to cause their downfall. Zakuani was booked on the stroke of half-time after pulling down Jimmy Smith and then minutes into the second-half he again pulled down the racing away Ben Sahar, on for James Simmonds, and was shown a second yellow. The highlight of the evening was Scott Sinclair's first goal. After Fulham 'keeper Brooks-Mead saved well from Sahar on a one-two-one, the ball bobbled around the Fulham penalty area before finding its way out to Scottie on the Chelsea right. With one swoop on the volley Scott sent a crashing 25 yard diagional shot high into the Fulham net. WALCOTT - WHO IS HE? WHO IS HE!! The Reserves are away to Charlton in two weeks time on the Monday after the respective 1st teams play at The Bridge. COME ON CHELSEA!! 41 YEARS A BLUE
