'Game Closer than the Score Suggests,' says Kaiser

The Academy continued their fine start to the season with a comprehensive victory away to Tottenham winning 4-0.

Goals from Ben Sahar, Sergio and Miroslav Stoch (2) capped a fine display from the Academy who have now won five from five, conceding only one goal.

Academy Coach Ruud Kaiser was quick to admit that the game was closer than the score suggests. He said "Nil-four seems a big gap, but it was not like this. It was a tense game, they had chances. It could have been two or three to them and four or five to us. We were really effective. We had six or seven chances and scored four, they had three or four chances and didn’t score."

The Academy took the lead on the half-hour mark, when Miroslav Stoch beat two Tottenham players and then rifled in a shot from thirty yards. Ten minutes later Ben Sahar scored after a long goal kick from Russell was flicked on by Sergio which left Ben to neatly skipped round the Tottenham goalkeeper before shooting the ball into an empty net.

Chelsea's third came from the penalty spot made and scored by Sergio. Kaiser said "Sergio got the ball, turned away from two players, passed another one and went into the penalty box where he was kicked off the ball from behind. He scored himself from the penalty. So it was 0-3."

The third goal came after Tottenham had put the Academy under severe pressure at the start of the second-half and 'keeper James Russell made series of fine saves.

Two minutes from time after good work between Michael Woods and Ben Sahar, Stoch ran on to score his 2nd goal of the game.

Good luck to Jack Cork, Sam Hutchinson, Ryan Bertrand, Lee Sawyer and Scott Sinclair who are all off the represent the England U18's.

Football Icon winner Sam Hurrell was a late second-half substitute replacing Oforia-Twumasi eight minutes from time.
