After their defeat by Reading last Monday week the Reserves returned to winning ways in stunning style as they hammered Portsmouth 5-0 on their own Fratton Park turf in front of a crowd of 1304.

Whoever decided on International breaks and leave Chelsea with FIVE first team squad members should be congratulated and lets have more breaks please LOL!!! Those Chelsea squad members not on International duty were: Carlo Cudicini, Nuno Morais, Salomon Kalou, Hilario and Joe Cole.

So it was Morais, Kalou and Hilario who stepped down and donned the Blue shirt of the Reserves and what an impact they all made especially Salomon Kalou. Bereft of ninety minutes since joining Chelsea in the Summer, Sal got his ninety minutes last night and scored a hat-trick and showed why Chelsea brought him into the squad from Feyenoord in the Summer.

The scorer of the other two goals was none other than Scott (Who Is Theo Walcott?) Sinclair. Scott didn't have too much of a good first-half by his standards but in the second-half he twisted and tormented the young Portsmouth full-back Joel Ward and could have had a hat-trick himself had Kalou not touched his shot over the line late in the second-half.

For Portsmouth. Andrew Cole hit the bar, had a goal disallowed and missed a penalty when it was 1-0 to Chelsea. Once the first of the four goals started to rain in in the second-half Cole was anonymous.

I have been watching the Reserves for about two years now, and this was by far their best performance.

Memo to Jose: If Sheva needs a 'goal confidence boost' give him a reserve game!!!
