Forget about any goal that you have seen that could become your goal of the season even at this early stage - Van Persie at Charlton, Drogba's against Liverpool and Alonso's against Newcastle.

Sergio Tejera probably scored THE goal of the season on Saturday morning on the South Coast as the Academy stretched their unbeaten start to eight wins out of eight as they beat last season's group winners, Southampton 2-1.

Sergio was 35 yards was from with a defender at his back. Sergio flicked the ball up over his and his marker's head, turned him and struck the ball into the top corner from fully 30 yards.

Coach Ruud Kaiser said "It was so hard, so tough. The goalkeeper didn't see it. I hardly saw it, it went so fast."

This put the Academy 2-0 up in the game, but with twelve minutes left Southampton scored to make it 2-1 and the Academy were forced to soak up a lot of pressure in the remaining minutes.

Tomi Saarelma who scored the winner against Charlton last week, started this week, and six minutes into the second-half put the Academy ahead. Fernandes started the move by dribbling pass one player in midfield before slotting a ball inside for Stoch to run onto. He then hit a low hard cross inside the penalty area ready for Tomi to touch it into the net.

The performance and the game pleased coach Ruud Kaiser. He said "It was a really great game, tough, on the edge. Both teams were fairly good.

"Southampton were strong in certain parts of the team, they had a good left-back, a good striker — Harry Worley did well against him — they were a good team. Last week they beat Fulham 9-1.

"We go there after seven wins, and there is real danger. But our boys did really well. I was very pleased. They were not big headed after seven wins, they were focused. They really had to fight very hard."

Football Icon winner Sam Hurrell started and finished the game and has now made four full appearances and two as substitute.
