Borani Architechts Reserves Win: Derby 0 Chelsea 2

Monday starts the week as probably the MOST significant week in the history of Chelsea Football Club. Not only does the first team play TWO VERY VERY important games in the space of five days which could help decide the destination of this season's Premiership title, but the Academy take on Aston Villa on Wednesday night in the 2nd leg of the FA Youth Cup semi-final.
But tonight a reserve team which included FIVE first year scholars, travelled to Burton-on-Trent to take on the reserves of Derby County..The reserves last victory came back in 2007 against Derby County and the reserves last game away to Birmingham City they fought out a creditable 0-0 draw..With five minutes to go tonight it looked like another 0-0 draw on the road for the reserves, but the introduction of 16 year old Borini changed that. Borini scored one and made one as the reserves/kids won 2-0 and showed up the disarray that Derby Football Club are in general..Chelsea's second goal, made by Borini, was a 20 yard curler scored by Daniel Philliskirk who was signed last season for £200,000 from League One Oldham Athletic. Daniel's dad Tony is youth team manager at the club...On the whole and despite the lack of availability of players due to other concerns coach Brendan Rogers must be pleased with the way the team played, gelled and importantly kept a clean sheet..Midfielder Jimmy Smith played in defence. Shaun Cummings again played where he was asked to. First year scholars Hibbert, Tabor, Philliskirk, Saville and Gordon did their jobs and didn't look out of place..Stuart Searle (who used to play for Basingstoke last season) kept another clean sheet and Franco Di Santo ran himself into the ground and showed that he has immense potential..Chelsea: Stuart Searle; Shaun Cummings, Jimmy Smith (c), Jack Saville, Ben Gordon; Jordan Hibbert, Daniel Philliskirk, Phil Younghusband; Fabio Ferreira Billy (Joe King 92), Franco Di Santo, Jordan Tabor (Fabio Borini 76)..Derby: Ben Hinchcliffe; Alex Forde, Jermaine Johnson, Miles Addison, Jason Beardsley; Aaron Cole, Matt Richards, Luke Gardener, Greg Mills; Aaron Dillon, Anthony Robertson..Since 66

I had a gig last night (for my sins I play in a pun band!) but just read through the updates - sounds like we played well and didn´t give up. Nice to see we got our reward in the end.
Di Santo sounds like he´s toughening up which is good news.
And thanks once again for the updates 66.

"It is born out of hypocrisy and fundamental insecurity. There have been two kids on the block for the past 12 years. Suddenly, there is a third and that one is threatening to be more successful than the others and they don’t like it." P Kenyon.
