Deschamps wants the Chelsea Job

Didier Deschamps has thrown his hat into the ring for the Chelsea job according to quotes in the press today. Deschamps, 39, has done very well in his managerial role since retirement both domestically and in Europe – and of course, he’s an ex-Chelsea player.

As a player he’s done it all - as a manager a bit more mixed - he brought Monaco to the final of the CL but was sacked by Juventus in 2006.

"It would be hard to refuse Chelsea.

"I want to return to coaching.  I needed to rest, but I feel capable of achieving good things now.”

"Breaking back into management is complicated because there are not always the opportunities but the Chelsea position is now free and I am flattered to be considered a possible candidate for the role.”

"They sacked their manager not because of the results they achieved but because of their wish to play a more attacking, attractive style of football in the next few years.

"They are a very big club that I know well. We will see over the next few days how it goes but any big-name manager who is available would interest them."

Didier Deschamps, Chelsea

Deschamps would certainly receive the respect of the squad and I like the idea of a young, dynamic manager that has a lot of overall experience.

Not my first choice – but I wouldn’t be displeased, however, I’m convinced the club already know who they want and are greasing as many wheels as possible to get him.

Time will tell.

Hurrah! Someone actually wants the job.

Take him before he changes his mind.

Allardyce is available as well.

Someone actually wants the job? Oh dear Simon - and there was me thinking you didn´t fall in with the plebian masses, gratefully feeding off the slops they feed you....Still, you NEED to believe all the kr-p they feed you I suppose?

Helps deal with your frustrations about Arsenal?

I fixed the bait on the hook and hey presto! a bite.

I don't believe a word of it, dixie.

Arsenal supporters should know by now, better than anyone, 99% of it is just cr*p.

Unfortunately there are quite a few on our board and several other Arsenal boards and blogs whose emotional state is directly linked to the sh*te they are served up.

They would rather believe a bunch of d*ckheads than what Arsene Wenger or any of our players say.

Fair enough.

We have to speculate a bit though I suppose - otherwise we´d have a lot less to talk about!

Does make me laugh how many believe so much of it though.
