Ten Cate Sacked - New Manager to be Named Soon

Reports are coming in thick and fast that Henk Ten Cate has been sacked. His dismissal must have almost immediate implications regarding the appointment of a new manager. The Dutchman was a Grant appointment and came with an excellent reputation after being key in providing the blueprint for the successful and stylish Barcelona team a few seasons ago.
Ten Cate was quoted on his future only a few days ago.
"Half an hour before Chelsea made the message about Grant officially known; I was called by the chief executive Peter Kenyon.
"He informed me that the departure of Grant will not affect me. I'd rather go on that than all those newspaper reports.
"That appointment was long planned and therefore separate from recent developments.
"In January I had one such evaluation and then we said we would do again after the season. I have a contract until 2010."
Now I can only surmise that IF the above quotes accurately reflect the content of Ten Cate´s meeting with Kenyon then his dismissal can only mean that a new manager has insisted on his removal and is a condition of the appointment.
Clarkey….Is Steve Clarke still going to remain at the Bridge? (The fans want him to stay) Why aren’t similar reports coming in on his removal? Because our new manager is happy with Clarke being there? If that was the case then it could only be Mourinho – but Mourinho is supposed to be appointed at Inter within 48 hours…
Rijkaard? Is it true that Rijkaard and Ten Cate eventually fell out at Barcelona? If so then it could make sense that Rijkaard is our new man. But then how come Clarke isn’t being sacked?
The plot thickens but I wouldn’t be surprised if our new manager is announced this evening or tomorrow at the latest.

Inter threaten action over Mancini

Inter Milan have threatened legal actions over reports that they have sacked coach Roberto Mancini.
The Italian press and sections of the English media reported on Tuesday afternoon that the Scudetto-winning coach had had his contract rescinded, after a 25-minute meeting with Inter President Massimo Moratti.
However, a statement on Inters website on Thursday insisted that the press reports were wide of the mark.
As regards to articles in daily newspapers, television, radio, and on the internet, with reference to reports of the encounter on Tuesday between Moratti and Mancini at the Presidents house in Milan:
F.C. Inter wish to inform that what has been written or reported does not correspond to the facts.
In fact, the meeting was absolutely professional, happened in a correct manner, and the coach did not exhibit disrespect towards president Massimo Moratti.
Therefore, believing that the articles misrepresent the club, we reserve the right to take legal action against those that repeat these rumours.
