Next Manager? Media Merry-go-round!

Who has any idea…REAL idea who the next Chelsea manager is going to be? At the bookies the favourite has changed so many times since the Grant sacking (at one point I think there were five favourites in as many days) so it’s quite clear that they don’t. And the media? Names ranging from Mancini to even Benitez have been mentioned! It really is a media “Magic Roundabout” merry-go-round!
Yesterday Sky announced that Ancelotti was the man to take the helm at Stamford Bridge…and then just literally minutes later PULLED the story (the link no longer exists) after no doubt receiving a stern telephone call from the Chelsea press office.
Chelsea put up a denial shortly after the Sky Ancelotti story that they had not “spoken to any individual to become manager, nor sought permission from any organisation to talk to their manager.”
By “organisation” presumably they mean “club” and by individual they mean the potential manager himself but make of it what you will if the word “agent” falls into and could be included in the statement.
What do we know? Well we know Mourinho can’t be the next manager as he was presented at an Inter press conference yesterday.
Mark Hughes has just been named as City manager (which disappointed many of the more hard core Chelsea fans), Trappotoni has just taken up the Ireland post and Ancelotti has just publicly stated that Chelsea haven’t even spoken to him about the post and Eriksson definitely seems Mexico bound.
There was a rumour going around the official chat site from somebody who knew somebody etc that the next manager was coming from within the PL and would rock the PL to its foundations – then, a few weeks later a Spanish radio station claimed that Benitez had put the feelers out to Chelsea via a 3rd party. Now, this just seems too fantastic a rumour to believe – doesn’t it?
We know that Laudrup was being asked directly about the Chelsea job at press conferences during the end of the Spanish football season at various points and Deschamps openly threw his hat into the ring very recently.
Mancini hasn’t said a dicky bird – nor has Scholari – nor has Rijkaard, and now Spalletti (one I personally wouldn´t mind along with Bilic) is the current favourite.
We also know Henk Ten Cate was sacked recently (supposedly shortly after Kenyon assured him about his future at Chelsea).
Now this must surely indicate that Chelsea HAVE spoken to one or possibly more candidates and they must have said that they wanted to bring in their own people? But if that’s the case then why hasn’t the new manager been named? It could only be that our next manager is the head coach of one of the national teams competing in Euro 2008 and doesn’t want to be named until his team has been knocked out or the competition is finished.
Anyway, what we do know is that NOBODY, except Chelsea Football Club and the individual(s) concerned, have any idea whatsoever.

the only managers that would rock the football world to its foundations are fergie and wenger and maybe benitez.
and i doubt that somehow?!
Vialli, Zola, Gullit.... ??
Klinsmann.... ??
I´d like someone like Spalletti or Bilic......even Laudrup. Someone young but that will have the respect of the players and is hungry to prove himself.
