Borini Scores Two in a Seven Goal Thriller

The Academy entertained the Royals of Reading last Saturday at Cobham and in a cracking match of SEVEN goals, the Academy run out winners 4-3 to record their first win of the season. It wasn't all plain sailing though, Chelsea went 1-0 down as early as the sixth minute and in the process lost Conor Clifford through injury.
New 'star in the making,' Marco Mitrovic was introduced to the action very early and on 30 minutes had a hand in Chelsea's equaliser. From a Tabor cross, Mitrovic managed to play the ball back to Borini who swept the ball home. When you view the video below, check out Chelsea's 2nd goal - a 30 yard free-kick from Tabor. Reading equalised within minutes and this stung Chelsea into action - again!! By half-time the youngsters were 4-2 up. First Borini scored his 2nd after fine work from Ahamed and McEachran and then right on half-time Mitrovic crept in to score Chelsea's fourth. Reading pulled another goal back in the 2nd half and despite Chelsea creating good chances, including Borini who missed a chance to gain his hat-trick, the win was well received by coach Paul Clement. He said, "The big target for us was not only to perform well but to win based on the previous games where we performed alright but the victory alluded us. "We responded well after going behind and in the first-half, although we scored a lot of goals, we were a bit loose defensively and didn't control the game totally. Second-half, although we haven't scored, we created a lot and played some really good football. "It was a bit hectic in the final minutes. I could see the boys getting a little edgy about seeing the win through and in the end were pleased to hear the final whistle. "But we deserved to win, no question, and it could have been by a lot more. It was pleasing to get the first win and it's something we can build on." We were great in attack but a bit pourous in defence at times!
