Carl Magnay IS Chelsea and NOT an Icon Winner

With all the football that was available to view last night I chose to watch the reserves live on Chelsea TV away at Pompey, the game played at Havant & Waterlooville's ground who play in the Nationwide Conference South. Well you have got to haven't you? The scoreline doesn't reflect the superiority of Chelsea.

Chelsea dominated the game from the first kick to the last, but it took the substitution of Fabio Borini for Morten Nielsen to get the goals that Chelsea deserved.

Two second-half goals (five in a matter of days after Fabio's hat-trick against Ipswich on Saturday) saw Chelsea coast past a relatively young and inexperienced Pompey set-up.

Full credit to Harry's kids - they gave it their all - and I had to laugh at Pompey's official site in their preview, saying that our team was 'inexperienced.'

It was pleasing for all the Chelsea staff and players to see Sam Hutchinson make his return after almost a year out with a serious knee injury.

Sam replaced Sergio Tejera on 58 minutes and it was his high cross from Chelsea's right, that brought about Fabio's 2nd goal.

Fabio controlled the ball on his chest before rifling past Stewart in Pompey's goal.

Chelsea's first came after a lung busting run from Nana also down Chelsea's right, playing a one two with Scottie before whipping in a low cross for Fabio to bundle in at the far post.

Carl Magnay who won Football Icon a couple of years back when Jose was in charge, played at left-back last night in a re-shuffle that saw Liam Bridcutt partner Michael Mancienne in central defence.

If Carl 'who I have already dubbed the next John Terry,' continues with these types of performances - left back when he is a right-footer as well as a centre-half - there is no reason why he cannot fast-track himself to the first team.

Carl was immense last night - attacked and defended with pace just like Jose did against Stoke on Saturday.

This Saturday the Reserves are in action against the Reserves of AC Milan at Cobham in a friendly. The game is being shown live on Chelsea TV it is hoped there will be LIVE coverage on the board as well.
