Drogba Out for a Month and Fixture Changes

The reserves fresh from their win at Pompey on Tuesday evening and their unbeaten start to the season, take on the reserves of AC Milan in a friendly at Cobham tomorrow morning (Saturday 4th October 2008). Already the reserves have played friendlies against Liverpool and Man Utd this season.
Against Liverpool we lost 2-0 up there and against Man Utd (which were back-to-back, home and away matches), Chelsea lost the first game and drew 2-2 the second game at Cobham, at one point Chelsea were leading 2-0. Imagine the Rossoneri in the famous black and red striped shirts at Cobham. Staging a fixture against the legends of the San Siro at Cobham on a Saturday morning gives further proof on the reckoning of Chelsea Football Club's standing in the World game since Mr Abramovich took over. Never before has it been known that club's of the like of Man Utd, Liverpool and AC Milan would have agreed to play friendly matches against us, let alone offering to play against any of our teams, unless drawn in a major domestic or European Cup competition. Bookmark and come back tomorrow from 11.15am when ALL the action will be LIVE on the board. Good news for Chelsea today is that Didier Drogba will be out of action for about four weeks after he suffered a knee injury against Cluj on Wednesday night. The official medical statement published on the official site reads: "Didier Drogba has had two forceful rotations in his knee and ankle. Fortunately, he has avoided any significant ligamentus rupture. "He will not be requiring surgery. We will keep him under observation for the next two or three days before putting an estimate on how long he'll be out, but we're certainly looking at weeks, not months." Scolari confirmed Dids condition today by saying, "Drogba now I think is normal treatment. I don't know very well but I think maximum one month and he is ready to play." Already out of Sunday's game against Villa are Deco, Carvalho, Essien and now Dids. News on JT, Joe Cole, Alex and Ashley is much brighter - Scolari expects all of these players to play some part on Sunday. Sky and Setanta have laid claim to two more Chelsea fixtures for broadcasting on 'inconvenience tv.' First up is West Ham at home which has been switched to Sunday 14th December, kick off 4pm and the Everton away game the following week (Saturday 20th December) has been switched to Monday 22nd December, kick 8pm. As well as this game, the first team are training, Chelsea U16s are playing Arsenal U16s and the U18s met up to travel to play Arsenal U18s.
