Wednesday Night Comeback

The first team weren't the only Chelsea team in action on Wednesday night. The Academy had a 7pm kick-off against Fulham at Cobham and from being 3-0 down, the boys rallied back and won the game 4-3. This comeback won't make the headlines like Spuds' comeback at Goonerville did and won't be as laughable - Spuds comeback was laughable for two reasons:
First: Woolwich were 4-2 up with a minute to go. Tottenham score twice in the same time. Second: There were hardly any Spud fans inside Goonerville to watch it happen!!! Anyway I digress. Fulham went one up inside five minutes when their youngster Courtney Harris scored after a fine run and then in quick succession Kai Bichard scored Fulham's second and third goals. A Chelsea goal just before half-time set the stage for the recovery and the victory, Frank Nouble got his first of three after running on from a Michael Woods flick-on. Coach Paul Clement said, "That was a very important goal, and a good goal as well. It was a fantastic little ball around the corner from Michael Woods and Frank finished very well." Right at the start of the second-half, Sergio Tejera made it 3-2 following up after a Michael Woods shot hit the post and Nouble got his 2nd and the Academy's equaliser from the penalty spot after he was brought down inside the box. The Academy were up on their shirt tails and once Fulham had a player sent-off, Frank went onto to complete his hat-trick which gave him seven goals for the season. As you would expect, coach Clement was extremely pleased. He said "We got ourselves in a terrible situation with a goal in the first five minutes and then a couple of other sloppy ones. We got a bit of a lifeline before half-time which gave us some belief and sorted out some things in the dressing room. The response from the players was excellent so I am pleased with the second half." Chelsea: Niclas Heimann, Nikki Ahamed, Daniel Philliskirk (c), Jack Saville (Billy Joe-King), Jordan Tabor, Tom Taiwo, Jacopo Sala, Michael Woods, Frank Nouble, Sergio Tejera (Conor Clifford), Aliu Djalo. Make a note in your dairies, the reserves are in action on Monday night (3rd November) at home to Stoke City and as usual there will be full coverage on the message board.
