Vagner Love Close to Chelsea Move? + Videos
VAGNER LOVE

CSKA forward Vagner Love (or Wagner Love English spelling) has appeared to “leak” that he may well be on his way to Chelsea in the January transfer window. Kenyon has been doing a good job keeping his cards very close to his chest so far but comments from Love and later Scolari seem to indicate that something’s afoot.
"It´s my aim to go to England."
.
"I have given my best years to CSKA and it's time to move. But I'm not a replacement for Robinho - I am my own player."
That last “Robinho” comment gives the game away doesn’t it?!
Scolari was asked about the player specifically by the press:
"Wagner Love is a very good player, he played at Palmeiras after I was there. Now he's in Russia playing very well, but I'm not thinking about A, B or C. I have some names. If the situation is normal for me, I'll speak to the board about one player more."
"When I have the players to change, we'll change."
So perhaps Love is just one of a few possibilities?
Scolari has been blighted by injuries to key players since the beginning of the season and this in turn has restricted his ability to come up with a Plan B and C which he has said he wants for the squad since before the beginning of the season.
"I knew [when I joined] that it's a different time now for Chelsea,"
"But, if I now have more injuries, they understand that I'll need one or two players to replace them. They understand this. But, if things are normal and the players are in good condition, no more injuries, I think it is maximum one player they'll replace because we only need one player more."
"For the game against Arsenal, I lost two strikers in [Franco] Di Santo and Didier [Drogba], and I had only [Nicolas] Anelka," he said.
"For Bolton I have only Anelka, too. If I had one player more in very good condition, I'd have more options for change. Or options to play two strikers, or something different. Maybe you'll say that when I arrived I sold many players, but 34 players is too many for a coach.”

Vágner Silva de Souza (known as Vagner Love for whatever reason) plays as a striker in a central role rather than out wide for CSKA. He’s very strong but at 5´7” not the tallest. Age is on his side as he has only just turned 24.
I would have thought a wide player was the priority for Scolari seeing as when we have both Drogba and Di Santo back that gives us three centre-forwards. Still, maybe Scolari requires both a forward and wide player and Love consists of one forward option?
Love is Brazilian (born June 11, 1984 in Rio de Janeiro) and has represented his country 21 times scoring 5 goals winning the Copa America in 2004 and 2007.
He began his career with Palmeiras and was bought by CSKA Moscow in 2004 (the club were also connected with Abramovich´s then company Sibneft who sponsored them) for around 5m, won the 2005 UEFA Cup, the Russian Premier League and the Russian Cup twice. He is also league top scorer in 2008 and top scorer with 8 goals in the current 2008-9 UEFA Cup campaign.
On a lighter side he appears to be a bit of a relaxed playboy. An internet porno video was doing the rounds with him and a Brazilian actress “starring” – Love’s response was 'Hey, I'm known for being amorous, let's be honest: this reputation isn't one that unsettles me.” Fair enough I suppose although you can bet if we sign him stills of this film will surface as “exclusives” in the red tops!
I’ve not seen a great deal of him. He did play against us when we played CSKSA Moscow – he missed a penalty (so he should fit just right in with us for any shoot-outs!) but I don’t remember him really standing out. If we do sign him, let’s hope he does (and that Scolari also signs a wide player).

Would mean 4 competing for 1 or 2 CF spots - Anelka, Drogba, Di Santo and Love (unless there´s a system where he wants to play Love out wide?)
Interesting what you say about his left-foot Carefree. To be honest,I haven´t seen that much of him.

Is Joe going to be fit though?
And even Malouda is injured - we could possibly be well short in midfield (Lampard suspended don´t forget).

Not the tallest but seems very strong.
Do you think Big Phil will play him in the centre then? Has he played out wide?
I just feel that our priority should be a wide man.
