Alex hands in Transfer Request

Alex Rodrigo Dias da Costa (or Alex to most football fans) has handed in a transfer request according to The Sun newspaper. The veracity of the source would normally be questioned but the report does have actual quotes from the player that he wants to leave Chelsea as soon as possible in the January transfer window.
"I told Chelsea a few days ago that I wanted to leave."
"There are many options. But I have to think them through and see if Chelsea will let me leave in January."
Alex has made fairly regular appearances for the club this season due to the injury of Carvalho who is now approaching full fitness but last season he was not a regular and his place in the national team suffered – this is almost certainly a principle reason behind the transfer request.
Quite simply, Chelsea have a “nice problem” in that our ranks are bulging with talent in the centre-half position; Terry, Carvalho, Alex and Ivanovic in the first team squad, youth product Mancienne out on loan at Wolves and called up for the full England squad, Magnay and Bruma in the youth and reserves and finally Rajkovic and Alcaedes on loan in Holland.
Mancienne was making noises recently that he may have to leave if he couldn’t break through at Chelsea but was loaned out to Wolves to keep up his playing time after a very successful period at QPR. Chelsea would have had to sell one of our centre-half’s in the summer if we were to accommodate Mancienne – it could be that Alex has made the decision with regard to who is sold for the club already.
The fans like Alex, he is very talented, good in the air, possesses a thunderous shot and has telescopic legs – ordinarily there is no way even Chelsea would consider selling such a player but the Mancienne situation makes one sacrifice necessary.
The player will have plenty of top European clubs waiting with their cheque books open and one of the upsides to this story is that it is there where Chelsea can make a decent profit on the player.
Chelsea supposedly paid 4-5m for Alex whilst he was at Santos and parked him at PSV for three seasons, eventually paying the sum if $1 for the move to Stamford Bridge.
Still, we shall wait and see if there is any denial of the story from the club or the player.

"I believe my player and if he came to me and said I don't give interview, I don't need to answer about this. If he doesn't give an interview for this and some newspaper writes something, I need to believe my players. He is happy, yesterday he came and said I didn't give the interview."
