Roma´s Cicinho to Chelsea?

The Daily Mirror has Luiz Felipe Scolari “eyeing up” a £5million swap deal for Roma’s Cicinho sending Florent Malouda off down the Fulham Road into the sunset towards Heathrow airport for Rome. I’m not convinced about this one (which probably means that there will be pictures of him tomorrow holding up a Chelsea shirt, with a grinning Peter Kenyon).

The 28-year-old Brazilian is a wideman who can play Bosingwa like as a right sided wing-back or as an out and out winger.

Cicinho started off in the Brazilian league which included playing for Sao Paulo, before being snapped up by Real Madrid for 4m euros.

Unfortunately he picked up a ligament injury and asked to leave after only making 26 appearances for the Meringues in two seasons after his recovery.

Roma signed him in 2007 and the Mirror say that ourselves, Liverpool and Seville were also interested in signing him.

Where the Mirror piece falls down a bit is this phrase “Manchester United were keen on signing Cicinho back in 2005 but Alex Ferguson was concerned that the player’s attacking style of play wouldn’t work at Old Trafford.” !!!  Course not, Ferguson hates attacking players doesn’t he?!

The Mirror also have us in for Marseille winger Hatem Ben Arfa and strikers, Luis Fabiano from Sevilla and CSKA Moscow's Vagner Love.
