Chelsea: Hiddink looks to take temporary charge

Russia national team coach Guus Hiddink appears set to take temporary charge of Chelsea Football Club after the sacking of Big Phil Scolari only yesterday. Reports state that the Dutchman is currently in talks with Chelsea suits. The appointment of Hiddink would give time for the club to find a permanent successor in the summer – or persuade Hiddink to stay should he do well.

Good relationship with Abramovich

“I have to admit it’s a complicated situation involving the Russian national team and Chelsea,” said the Dutchman.

“I must say that this is an exceptional situation. If it was any other club aside from Chelsea my answer would be a straight ‘No’, but Chelsea is different because I have good relations with the (club) owner. So I would like to help them (Chelsea) in this situation if I could.”

Hiddink, on the touchline during the match.

Chelsea role combined with Russia job

“This would be a full managerial role, a day-to-day job but this would only be for the next two or three months until the end of the season,”

“Of course when Russia would play (World Cup qualifiers) I   would go there to coach them during that (international window) as there won’t be any (league) games during that time.”

“I have already done that (combining two jobs) a couple of years ago when I was coaching Australia and PSV (Eindhoven), so I’m familiar with the situation and what it takes.”

“I will not leave my job with the Russian national team - It’s out of the question,” he said.

“When I took the Russia job it was a long-term project and I don’t like to leave it unfinished.”

Things certainly appear to be moving very quickly.

If I was Roman I'd swallow the bitter pill and get Mourinho back. Hiddink does seem the next best thing for you though.

Mourinho wouldn´t stop work at Inter with the kudos of winning Serie A. The summer at the earliest - and if we are lucky.

Would be nice - who knows, Roman may have first refusal on him.

A fan came on and mentioned Slaven Bilic. His rugged ways could work at Chelsea, with his cigarette on the touchline.

There is no way Mourinho will come back to Chelsea for all the money in China.Mourinho is a proud man and if Chelsea do approach him he will turn us down for sure.He has got nothing to prove to Chelsea and he knows that. We made a very grave mistake by getting rid of him and it serves them right.
