CSKA Moscow coach Zico has told the media that he will not stop Yuri Zhirkov from joining Chelsea. Zhirkov, the “Russian Ronaldinho” has been a Chelsea target for some time now since interest was confirmed by Avram Grant on Israeli radio just after he was sacked just after the Champions League final.

“Zhirkov is a player of such high level, he would only show all his potential playing in such a strong competition as the English Premier League,” said Zico.

“He’d easily fit into Chelsea’s first-choice team. I don’t like to lose him, but I won’t stop his move to London.”

The 25 year-old Russian international has been linked with a £15million move to Chelsea although Barcelona are also supposed to be sniffing around him.

Zhirkov is a left-sided attacking midfielder so this could spell curtains for Malouda.

Temporary Chelsea manager Guus Hiddink has also advised Roman Abramovich to sign Zhirkov this summer and also recommended 18 year-old attacking midfielder Alan Dzagoev also from CSKA.
