Is it really going to be Ancelotti?

The media have been reporting for some time now that our manager for next season is Carlo Ancelotti. According to them, Milan are “resigned” to losing him and the financials are being finalised at the moment. Today, reports claim that the Italian will join us with a three-year contract worth around £5.8million a season and will put pen to paper in June.
Roman intervention in Milan
Real Madrid were hoping to sign Ancelotti but the fact that Abramovich has negotiated with him personally and we already have a good relationship with Milan has swung the decision in our favour.
Milan will consider asking for compensation for their manager, who has one year of his contract left to run but Ancelotti insists he has a gentleman’s agreement with Berlusconi that he can leave without any problems.
Ancelotti, 49-year-old has won the European Cup twice and a Serie A title with Milan and has been cited by some as the real target wanted to take the helm in preference to Scolari last summer –in fact, Sky even precipitated confirming the deal at one point before taking the report off the web just an hour later.
Transfer targets
In a further twist to the tale, Arsenal’s Adebayor is said to be wanted by the Italian and Chelsea have already supposedly agreed a deal for the "Russian Ronaldo" Zhirkov, 25, from CSKA.
Tevez, whose two-year loan deal expires in the summer at Man Utd has also been thrown into the mix and it is also claimed that he is also “resigned” to leave the club.
Fans concern
The general feeling among many Chelsea fans is that Ancelotti is NOT the man we want.
Whilst recognising his reputation on producing good footballing sides and pushing youngsters through (a big plus in Abramovich´s book) there is huge concern with regard to his communication skills – he can’t speak English.
We really don’t want to go through yet another season half-cocked. Through strict spending transfer policy and hurried appointments we have thrown at least 1-2 league titles away and have gained a difficult to rebuke reputation of becoming a circus. Nevertheless, if Ancelotti does sign, let’s hope we’re wrong to hold reservations.
