Berlusconi pushes Ancelotti a step closer to Chelsea

Silvio Berlusconi, the president of AC Milan and Prime Minister of Italy, has firmly levelled the blame for his clubs failure to win any silverware this season at the feet of manager Carlo Ancelotti. This very scathing and public move is seen by many as a way of pushing the Italian out of the San Siro and into the doors of Stamford Bridge.
Ancelotti has consistently issued denials that he had any agreement with Abramovich or any intent to join Chelsea but Berlusconi has thrown the cat amongst the pigeons in his usual, typical style:
"We lost the title because of Ancelotti," he said.
"Many times we did not use the right tactics. We have so many good dribblers and should have based our football on this asset, but we did the opposite."
Concerns
Many Chelsea fans recognise the 49-year-old´s attributes and prestige in the game; he produces sides that play aesthetic football, he’s not afraid to use youngsters and most of importantly of all; he (usually) brings back the pots to the trophy cabinet.
However, the vast majority are worried about the fact that he has only worked in Italy and that his ability to communicate in English is apparently poor (the fact that he is currently taking English lessons has done little to quell these concerns).
Media confusion
Many sections of the media appear to be confused over the veracity of the claims that Ancelotti is the next man to take the helm at Stamford Bridge; Some say that he had been offered the position LAST SEASON but asked for a few days to think about it – Chelsea supposedly responded by hiring Felipe Scolari and told the Italian that the offer was only hypothetical.
Others say that Hiddink has personally recommended Rijkaard (Hiddink has also admitted that he has been offered a role to stay on as a consultant/director of football) and it is also know that Slaven Bilic was with Chelsea suits during the Champions League fiasco against Barcelona at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea fans and players of the club have stated that they want Hiddink to stay but are gradually resigned to the fact that this will not be possible
Galliani stum
Adriano Galliani, the Milan vice-president, refused to comment on Berlusconi’s remarks:
“I never comment, as a rule, on the declarations of president Berlusconi and I don’t comment what is reported to me by the newspapers that I have not read,” he said.
"I said and I repeat that I won't speak before May 31 on these things, or at least I won't speak before we have reached the direct qualification to the Champions League."
