Player of the Year Awards Dinner 2009

Tonight Chelsea Football Club announce the Fans Player of the Year 2009 at Stamford Bridge, in the Great Hall. The awards dinner is being shown LIVE on Chelsea TV from 9pm. Other awards up for grabs are Goal of the Season, Player's Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year. The results of each award will be updated in the thread below.
Ashley Cole, 47 appearances (inc one sub) this season, his best season since THAT move from Woolwich. Ash is on course for a 5th FA Cup winners medal, having already won one in a Blue shirt in 2007.
Captain and Inspirational Leader John Terry. Made his 403rd appearance last Saturday against Blackburn and has now joined the ranks of the top ten appearance makers in Chelsea's history.
Alex who played his 40th game of the season against Blackburn. Solid, reliable and dependable and scorer of a couple of stunning goals this season.
Super Frank. Who played his 425th game last Saturday. Scorer of 19 goals this season and needs one more to have scored 100 goals in just FIVE seasons.
Nicolas Anelka, He scored his 18th Premiership goal of the season against Blackburn and he is in the running for the Premiership Golden Boot. Nic also set up the opener for Malouda in the same game.
John Obi Mikel. Another player who has made over 45 appearances this season. Can't be doing too much wrong to play that many games. Slipped out of the team, when Essien came back after his serious knee injury.
Lastly Didier Drogba and Florent Malouda. Both have been revitalised since HUSS' arrival in February.
I am sure Super Frank's stunning chip at the KCC Stadium back in October in Chelsea's 3-0 win would have been at the top of most people's list until that stunning volley from Michael Essien in THAT game against Barcelona at The Bridge.
There is another candidate in Alex's free-kick against Liverpool. For me though its Essien's goal all the way.
I think the Young Player of the Year will be between Frank Nouble and Fabio Borini. Both of these youngsters have been scoring goals for fun both for the Academy and the Reserves and at the last count, Fabio was leading BIG Frank 15 to 14.

Cole has been excellent since about half-way through last season and Lampard has had one of his best seasons ever.
