Chelsea in Seattle, Stochie Boy in Holland

Chelsea touched down safely in Seattle yesterday afternoon to prepare for their first friendly of the 2009/2010 season. The game against Seattle Sounders at the Qwest Field Stadium kicks-off Saturday evening at 8pm (UK time). There will be full LIVE updates from 7pm (UK time) on the message board which will include the first team sheet of the season.
The twenty-six man squad that travelled included Captain John Terry, Claudio Pizarro, Andriy Shevchenko (who were on loan at Werder Bremen and AC Milan respectively), new signings Ross Turnbull, Daniel Sturridge (Yuri Zhirkov will join the squad at a later date), Scott Sinclair, Michael Mancienne and Sam Hutchinson.
Miroslav Stoch hasn't travelled because he has gone on a season long loan to Twente Enschede in Holland. Ryan Bertrand today signed for Reading also on a season long loan and earlier in the week, Jimmy Smith was transferred to Leyton Orient.
Joe Cole hasn't travelled because he has undergone minor surgery on his knee. Coley is expected to resume full training within a month. Paulo Ferreira is still recovering from his cruciate ligament injury.
