Roman visit to Bayern Munich for Ribery?

Well, the old “Current Bun” claims that Roman Abramovich has made a personal telephone call to Bayern Munich supremo Uli Hoeness in a bid to sign Frank Ribery – and that Hoeness has agreed to meet our owner. Who knows if this is the usual sensationalist stuff? I’ve got a feeling there may be something in it.

"Uli was taken by surprise by the phone call but was very honest and courteous with Mr Abramovich,” said a “senior Bayern source"…. (cough!).

"We are still resolved to keep Ribery but Hoeness agreed to meet with Abramovich in Germany to discuss any offer."

It’s quite amusing really when you remember that Hoeness hasn’t exactly been that kind in the past with his words on Chelsea and Abramovich.

The Sun claims that we are to make a £40million bid for the winger but that Man Utd are also having a good sniff around.  Both clubs have the money and Ribery has since refuted earlier quotes in the media that he wouldn’t play in the Premier League due to the English weather.

The report also goes on to say that Munich may sell Ribery to us as they are angered with regard to a suspicion that Ribery has signed a pre-contract with Real Madrid.

As always with these situations, time will tell. 

There’s no doubt that Ribery could add something to our side although taking into account the signing of Zhirkov I would have thought a striker would have been a higher priority – but who knows what vision and formation(s) Ancelotti has in store for us though?
