Man Utd Preview: Youngsters Let Down by Club

There is a chance that you will not know this but from last Sunday until Wednesday our high profile Academy played in the States, competing for the Dallas Cup in the Super Group section. Unfortunately the boys were eliminated from the competiton after the final group game, by one goal.

The reason you probably don't know anything about this competition, unless you read the last match-day programme against Aston Villa, is that the official site (for whatever reason) declined to publish any information before, during and after the boys were eliminated.

Our Academy is high-profile, they represented our club in a competition for the second time in three years and they played in a competition that had entered its 31st year.

ure2

Our club decided not to give credence nor representation to their efforts out in Dallas. I wasn't expecting live match coverage on Chelsea TV but the club could have least produced a daily report or as a last resort produced a review of their performances. But no. Nothing, Zilch, Nada!!!

The writers of this site worked hard to provide updates during the three games all for the love of our club, extracted from other means, whilst high-paying media executives decided our Academy were not worth the effort, which is simply disgraceful.

Millions of pounds have been invested into the infra-structure of our Academy and the other clubs who have been competing at the same level as our youngsters have gone overboard providing news, updates and even live blogs from Dallas - unfortunately our boys who were very well received by the locals have been let down by Chelsea and treated like third-rate beggars!

As for the BIG game at Old Trafford. I know you shouldn't wish ill on anybody, but I did raise a wry smile at poor Wayne Rooney's injury and that he won't be playing against us.

ure1
I know one man doesn't make a team, but he is their talisman and if it wasn't for his goals, Utd may not be where there are now.

'Anco' has declared that Didier will start and I hope Didier focuses on the job in hand and not produce any 'histrionics' that may incur Mike Dean's wrath and that Chelsea are careful in their own penalty area, because Mr Dean likes to give penalties when they aren't there (Martin Olsson a prime example) and this is Old Trafford.

At the start of last week, I had my concerns about this game. A week and a bit later, after Chelsea had rattled in TWELVE goals and combined with Chelsea's excellent Old Trafford record, what is there to worry about.......?

You are right 66 its absolutely disgusting that our official website couldn't be bothered when their are thousands of blues fans out there that are and it is a shame that we have to rely on other sites like this one to get the latest news and i would like to say a big thank you.(Sm128)

This is supposed be the future of our club and we should be able to see updates of their games even if it was only on a daily basis.

I certainly will be writing to the club to complain i think its embarrassing and disrespectful what they have done to these boys.

Todays game is make or break for me.

No draw thankyou very much it is a must win and the players know this.

Interesting stat;

Manchester United have dropped points on only two ocations at Old Trafford and that was against Sunderland when they got a lucky injury time equaliser to make it 2.2 then they went down 1.0 by Aston Villa.

Very interesting that at Stamford Bridge we put seven goals past each of those two teams 7.2 against Sunderland And 7.1 against Villa.

Thanks c/f much appreciated. Makes the effort completely worthwhile. I am going to do the same and write to the club, I am still so angry about it.

Another stat for you, I believe Utd haven't won a game after playing in the CL in this season.

We should be extremely rested and WELL UP for today

The dates for the Dallas Cup have been set for the next five years - if Chelsea get invited to participate again, I am going - I nearly went this time round at the last minute.

A bit of a mystery about the kids in the states not being covered. Normally the club are so thorough in providing coverage or news on the reserves and academy. So why not then? TV contractual obligations? Budget restrictions? (Don´t forget, we have a new CEO). Last season there was something I´m sure.

All very strange and a real shame....and yes, you´re right, very poor show from the club. Be interesting if someone has emailed the club on this for an explanation - and I see that you have Since 66 - look forward to hearing the club´s excuse when you get a reply.

On to the game...

All the media coverage is on Rooney being injured. Understandable to a degree but Man Utd aren´t just about Rooney and remember, they have a 32m replacement in Berbatov, who although doesn´t look that happy at Old Trafford (interesting comment made by Docherty on CTV last night) at Spurs looked like one of the most naturally talented players in the prem (and knowing our luck, this will be the game that his form picks up!).

Just heard on Sky that 4 of Man Utd´s 6 defeats have occured after midweek games although against us I think there will be a lot of extra natural adrenalin that may cancel out any tiredness - interesting that Wilkins says we must keep moving the ball quick. Also interesting to hear Anco´s comment that "We are fit NOW..." - language glitch? Or has the training been stepped up? We do seem to have more energy recently.

Wilkins says that we could witness a real humdinger of a game - maybe we are going 4-3-3 and intending to attack rather than be cagey.

My hope is that referee Dean doesn´t @#$%& us up like he has done in the past - bewildered that he has been selected.
This is the best time for us to face Man Utd at OT - if we don´t captilise then we more or less have to accept that we wont win the league this season - 4 points behind at this stage could be too much. Let´s hope that Dean doesn´t decide the outcome.

Fed up with getting blatantly stitched up by refs. We are such an easy target - most rejoice at any injustice inflicted upon us and the refs and media know that.

Hang on sec here. I've pretended to be a Chelsea fan on this site(due to a few reasons) but what you write about Rooney putting united in their position is bollocks.

DROGBA, on the other hand is simply a goalscoring genius, and simply wins Chelsea matches as he did against us at the weekend as a SUBSTITUTE!!!!!!!!!

I think Drogba is ridiculously underated, and and opposition must find him onem of the biggest pains to play against. He is so bloody strong, and gets 'CLASS' goals out of nowhere.

Rooney misses so much. I predicted he would step up this season, but seriously, although Rooney is a good player,he is nothing special. Drogba is special. To me i think Scholes is special. Fletcher is coming along very nicely too, and maybe in time considered special too. I just dont know what all the fuss is about Rooney. Every other line in the newspapers is about him. He is not a patch on Ronaldo, and anyone who thinks he is, is hugely mistaken.

Players who are just as usefull as Rooney in or team: SCHOLES(even now lol) Valencia, Fletcher, Giggs,Nani, even bloody Gibson when he plays lol. To me Berbatov is capable of being superior to Rooney. Berbatov is a genius!
