Liverpool Preview: Rafa's Sorry Attempt at the Mind Games

COME ON CHELSEA
By Since66
May 1 2010

Putting aside my absolute HATRED for Liverpool (and I REALLY mean I HATE Liverpool) I totally disregard the comments that Benitez has been quoted as saying ahead of Sunday's lunchtime clash at Anfield. He said, "It will more difficult than ever now to lift the players. We will have to check on everyone before deciding on the line-up. That is how it has left us."

"We had to change Benayoun and Mascherano because they were very tired. We had to use Kuyt, even though he was injured against Burnley, and Ngog was on the bench, even though he wasn't 100 per cent.

Liver2

"I am proud of the effort the players put in, but now they are paying the price. It has taken a lot out of them. I thought that if we won, then adrenaline might carry us through against Chelsea. Instead the players are not very weary but very down.

"Our job is to try to get them ready for another big game, but it will not be easy."

Rafa was referring of course to Liverpool's exit in the Europa League on Thursday night - two wishes came true there then - extra-time and Liverpool's defeat on the away goal rule.

Again I DO NOT subscribe to the conspiracy theories that have been attached to the media all week that Liverpool will not give Chelsea a 'tough' game therefore railroading ManUre's attempt to win their 19th title.

After all how many years have Liverpool had to increase their current tally of 18 titles?

The Kop won't stand for it and neither will Gerrard, Carragher and Glenn Johnson who will be keen to put one over his former club.

Sir Alex has had his twopenneth worth by saying (and when doesn't he?)

Liver3

He said, "I think Liverpool will do their best on Sunday. Great clubs don't throw their histories away. They don't throw their traditions away for one game.

"Liverpool have been in 10 European finals, won 18 titles, so that's a fantastic history. You don't throw that away - and the fans know that too.

"Do you think the fans want to go away home saying, 'They capitulated, they didn't try,?' Of course not!!"

Boss 'Anco' not being drawn into the War of the Minds simply said, "The past is the past," (referring to the Champions League Final in 2005 when he was boss of AC Milan).

Liver1

"Everyone respects the history of Liverpool and everyone has to have respect for our history, too.

"Maybe it's a different history but everyone has to have respect for the history of this club."

As if we want to beat you, i hope we play the reserves and let you beat us 10-0 with a couple of carragher own goals, never wanted United to overtake our league winners tally.

Chelsea are the lesser of two evils.

Not a bad club Chelsea - Shame about some of the total @#$%& you name as fans though isn't it Since66? With YOU of course being the PRIME example of that; A neanderthal like troglodyte could have written a better 'preview' than THAT bigoted, biased, NOTHING to do with the match, tirade like piece of trash - Heck, my SON could have written a better piece than THAT!!! And given that he's only 11 months old that is UTTERLY damning of your so-called 'preview' and Any skill at composing pieces for your site you have in general - I.e. there aren't any are there? Skills at writing that is - The article is a total disgrace, not fit for wiping one's backside with and is an embarrassment to a not to bad (normally) football website. So allow me to take your callow inexperience, youthful venom (youthful in writing terms as in NO experience) and sheer misguided rubbish and show you HOW it's done when writing a match preview no?

Anyway, my view for what it's worth is that Rafa' only spoke the truth - We ARE knackered out and spirit-crushed after Thursday so it's NOT mind games and N'gog, Kuyt and possibly also Babel ALL have injuries to carry as well whilst Torres is as you well know unavailable - The Anfield factor MAY have some sway tomorrow and given what I know (and suspect) of those Manc' @#$%& and the unnatural influence the Evil one in charge of them wields with ref's; I'd say beware a red card or bizarre penalty being awarded in Liverpool's favour tomorrow (for almost the FIRST time all @#$%& season!!) As the powers that be CAN'T have little old Chelsea dethrone their media darlings from the suburb that is Salford in their pursuit of a record can they? Oh and if you DON'T believe me about the Manc's having ahem, shall we say 'contingency arrangements' to help swing things in their favour YET again? Look at the time of the respective kick-offs at Anfield and the Stadium of Light and then tell me THAT is not deliberate? Because if it IS - Then it can only be aimed straight at Chelsea in pursuit of aiding the Mancs chase their vomit-inducing 'record' number of league titles;

And answer me THIS if you can - Which do they have TEN Premier League titles or EIGHTEEN League titles - They so often say we've NEVER won the Premier League yet they claim the SAME number of titles as us and guess what? Half of THEIRS are division 1 titles as well!! So are the Premier League and the (Old) Division 1 the same or not? Work THAT one out If you can. My view - Let them have the record We can (and WILL) reclaim it one day (they did and from FAR further back) - We'll sort our ownership issues out soon enough and when we Do?..........I'll leave you to guess; I'd rather we did you NO favours and fought you to the utter DEATH rather than let you win at Anfield but at the moment I suspect even if we WANT to do that we have not the squad required to pull such a feat off.

So if Chelsea DON'T take a big step toward the title tomorrow then there's only ONE team they can blame - You shouldn't look to far for them either - In fact they can be found in the mirror as you'll NEVER get a better chance than this to win at Anfield with YOUR team at near full-strength and ours not only decimated by injuries but heartsick and almost in open-revolt in some cases as well. So despite the inevitable Manc' bias in the refereeing AND the Anfield factor which normally does something to Chelsea when it's REALLY turned on? My heart is heavy in that I DO believe Chelsea will win tomorrow - they have a well-balanced team in good heart and are facing opponents with anything BUT either of those qualities - though it pains me to say it - Yep, Chelsea WILL probably win IMO as a Red, but they won't do it easily - It will be anything BUT that...................

And THAT my friend is how you compose a Match Preview - NOT with the ill-educated tide of bilge you put above which was more swearing dictionary than match preview - Did you like my Masterpiece Since66? Try engaging whatever passes for your brain before insulting your team's opponents in future and you MIGHT be able to write a balanced preview to - I'll not hold my breath though if it's all the same.

NB: BTW Who'd rather have WHOSE history? Not to bothered but I bet you'd rather have piled up 18 League Titles (Premiership OR the old Division 1 which is the same thing) rather than just bidding tommorow for what your fourth? That's not even HALF of what we have and that's without all our knockout trophies as well (which we SO nearly added to this year). As to Chelsea - I'm aware you have your own proud history of 2 Cup Winners Cups, numerous FA and League Cup triumphs and (hopefully) 4 League Titles after THIS season but what about the rest? The Chelsea Head Hunters, the electric fences under Ken Bates aimed at his OWN fans?, What of the virtual pricing out of the Bridge of Children and new fans under Abramovich to help pay the way since Chelsea's rise in status under the Russian?

That's all not even to mention the fact that TWICE you nearly Have gone bankrupt in the last 25 or so years - Once when Bates bought you for a pound and Stopped the Bridge being demolished and your club dissolved and once RIGHT before Abramovich came in, you beat us to the CL in May 2003 due to Gronkjaer's goal (11/05/03 I believe the game was played on) and you WOULD have gone out of business a few weeks later had you NOT done this. Well, I think in hindsight ALL of the above are each things I'd rather not have at MY club thank you so I'll conclude with THIS thought - Keep your own background; Give me MY Club's history any day of the week!!! Stuff all the others - I only care about my OWN team and so should other fans.........

NNB: 'Sorry' attempt at mind games is it? We'll see soon enough tomorrow - Although the ONE other time he did mindgames on Ancelotti Was in Istanbul on......when was it?.....Oh yes 25/05/05 - I believe quite an important match took place that night and ended 3-3 was it? Can't for the life of me remember WHY it was important though. Guess WHO managed the beaten team and the victors that night though? NOW tell me Rafa' can't play mind games - Also look at United at OT last season when we played them (their record, their invincibility there that season and everything) Then look at what WE did to them on the day and look at how Fergie was AFTER that match (14/03/09 BTW) THEN tell me Rafa' CAN'T play mind games. Finally look at Rafa's conduct during his dealings in League, Cup AND Europe with your own dear departed 'Special One' and look at just WHO was always the thorn that got under his skin EVERY season he was here THEN tell me Rafa' doesn't do mind games. I suspect you'll have a rather different answer then.......

Your a proper muppet mate. What a completely moronic article you have written. What history do Chelsea have? You have spent 400 million on a bunch of mercenaries and you still cannot get your hands on a european cup. Your a joke of a club who nobody respects, led by a Captain that nobody respects.

While Benitez just isn't the type of manager who would ever concede any game. If you chavs can't beat a knackered, demoralised pool side, then you don't deserve to be champions. If you had played this fixture earlier in the season the title would already be man utds. Be thankful pool have nothing to play for and that their fans are willing them to lose.

Theres a lot that Chelsea have got that Liverpool havnt, money, a strong squad of talented and driven players and a potential league winning season looming. However, to say that you would take 3 league titles and ZERO european cups over 18 league titles and 5 european cups proves what a thick, chavvy, cockney @#$%& you are. Your fans are clueless @#$%& who have only been supporting chelsea since you started signing the vialli's and gullit's and the rest came when the Russian arrived. I remember Stamford Bridge being 60% empty prior to that. "Im chewsay froo an froo bruv". @#$%& off you stupid cockney @#$%&, Chelsea havnt got a @#$%& history.

We at Chelsea Football are proud of our history and because you have won more titles and cups doesn't mean you have more history does it

You keep going on about how many European cups you have won but didn't we win a European trophy before you guys well there's a bit of history for you.

Since 66 is right give me Chelsea's history any day and you can keep your cups and titles and remain forever as the worlds most hated club in history need i say more.

Oh I understand quotes and inverted commas Since66 but I wasn't referring to that - I meant the TONE of the piece and THAT came from none other than YOU - It's not the only one either having seen various other pathetic examples of 'articles' by you that are little more than lengthy insults of other clubs - It reads like something a kid would write more often than not.

As to the game - STILL think Rafa' played 'mind games' I TOLD you we were tired, heart sick and just not 'up for it' Believe me now? Good luck on your title - you'll deserve it for your points haul from the 'Big 4' alone which has NEVER been done before in the PL I think (along with winning at Anfield, Old Trafford AND Highbury/Emirates in ONE season). You've been the best side by a distance since August and it would be an utter travesty if you let the Manc whoresons steal it from you next weekend now but really you SHOULD have wrapped it up long ago but for dubious 'decisions' and inept performances in some of your away games recently.

On that note - Isn't it funny BTW how whenever anyone OTHER than United is going to win the league - it nearly ALWAYS goes to the last day AGAINST United in a 'showdown' but that when UNITED are the ones going to win it - they often win it early and when there are such late showdowns they rarely go to the final day? I wonder how contrived and arranged this stretching of the race to the final week was THIS time as officialdom have IMO clearly been a crutch for an ailing United side for weeks, even months now just to stretch out 'the race'.

As I said, you're the best side and will deserve the League Title should you claim it next Sunday But I stand by what I said; Chelsea deserve better supporters than those who use EVERYTHING as an excuse to write bigoted, ill-informed insulting rubbish like that 'preview' above and call them genuine 'articles/posts' on a website when they're anything but. Anyway, until next we meet I bid you Au Revoir.......

Like you I stand by with what I had written - as for the insults there aren't any and if you call my personal hatred for Liverpool as an insult then well there is no hope for us.

The insults came from your fellow fans!!

You were rite about the tiredness but that only became apparent once Chelse scored so for half hour you gave us a hard time and during that period we never looked like scoring. Had Aquilani's effort not hit the bar, things could have been completely different.

No mate, not to bothered if you HATE Liverpool - I don't like your club to much either but they are shall we say the lesser by far of two evils at the moment so yesterday wasn't as bad as it COULD have been. BTW do you agree with what I said about the title race coincidentally ALWAYS stretching out when things go AGAINST United but ALWAYS being wrapped up quickly when matters go FOR them? Bloody fishy if you ask me..............

NB: Didn't know who the insults were from - THOUGHT they were part of the article - May have been wrong with that.

It could have been worse had Wiley given us a penalty and sent Lucas off.

But the game is done and dusted. You troubled us for 30 mins and now the title is ours to lose.

I do see what you mean about the title race being stretched out but with Utd already losing 7 games and us 6 your idea maybe a little stretched. However we Chelsea fans already know about conspiracy theories in the Corrupt Cup.

Liverpool fans and their history? Makes me sick..Interesting how they never talk about all their history; the racism of many of its players in the 70's (read about a certain Mr Smith), the Kop and its anti Viv Anderson songs when he kept out Phil Neal from the England team, membership of the Euro clubs power group trying to keep the big money with a small cartel at the expenses of the game, lack of black players from Toxteth, the non atmosphere at most domestic games throughout much of 70/80 and 90's, stealing Everton's mantle to form themselves, selling out to the Americans for quick bucks, Heysel, stanley knives, anti man u munich songs and trashing old trafford. So much to be proud of..ther is more to history than trophies
