WC2010 Heartbreak for Didier, Essien Extends
COME ON ENGLAND

Not only have England fans have to contend with the news that injury-prone Rio Ferdinand has been ruled out of WC2010, after sustaining a knee ligament injury in his first training session on South African soil, but bad news is breaking for Chelsea fans ('excuse the pun) that Didier Drogba is also out of WC2010 after fracturing his arm in a 'friendly against Japan.
Michael Dawson, on the verge of going on holiday, is in fact on his way to South Africa to replace the stricken Ferdinand and as a side note Steven Gerrard is expected to be named England's captain for the tournament which kicks-off against USA next Saturday 12th June 2010 at 7.30pm.
Didier's injury came about as he went down under a heavy challenge from Japan defender Tulio after fifteen minutes in their 2-0 win over Japan earlier today.
Now for a piece of good news.
Michael Essien, out for the best part of Chelsea's "Double Winning" season, today signed an extension to his contract, which will keep him at Chelsea until 2015.
Essien said, "I am delighted because the club has shown a very big confidence and interest in me.
"I am looking forward to coming back and enjoying my football and winning more trophies with the club. That is why I am here. I think it is one of the most important contracts in my career."

Essien is great news and i cant wait to see Michael hitting the net once again with some of his thunderous strikes.

And Essien signing-on is great only if he can steer clear of injuries. Lets hope Joey follows suit.
