NON-LEAGUE DAY: Support YOUR Local Club

Non-League Day

With no Premiership or Championship matches scheduled for Saturday 4th September due to European Championship 2014 qualifiers - England play their first game against Bulgaria at Wembley on Friday 3rd September - YOU have no excuse, unless the Mrs has you under the thumb and drags you off to the shops!!!

The idea for 'Non-League Day' came from QPR supporter and part-time Harrow Borough supporter Jamie Doe, who has started a Twitter and Facebook campaign's to raise awareness, suggesting the opportunity for 'Professional' football supporters to go out and support their local team for one-day in the hope that price-comparison of watching the top-men will encourage the local supporter to go and watch the 'little-uns' more and more.

Jamie says, "The idea for Non-League Day came to me after going to OPR's pre-season game at Tavistock a couple of weeks ago.

"The club and fans were made really welcome by the hosts and it was obvious how financially important the visit was to them.

"In the last year or so I've heard repeatedly how money is becoming really tight for non league clubs - the last time I went to watch Harrow they were about to hold a fundraising night to buy some new bulbs for the floodlights.

"Their plight cannot be unique so I wanted to start Non-League Day to try and give our local clubs a bit of publicity and a shot in the arm."

Jamie will be off to Oxford Road, Sidcup to watch Harrow Borough play Cray Wanderers and yours truly will be at Park View Road, Welling to watch the hosts play Boreham Wood and I know there is a very large Chelsea contingent in the Wood of Hertfordshire who could make the journey down to the borders of SE London and Kent.
