A win tonight and therefore automatic qualification could also be provide a passport to some of our more promising youngsters to gain valuable Champions League experience. It won’t be easy though – Spartak manager Karpin has already inferred that his players will have to be brave and fight rather than die on their knees.
We will be missing some regulars tonight though; Lampard is not ready yet, Bosingwa is delicate with an illness after just coming back from his long-term injury and Malouda is not being risked with a slightly dodgy ankle.
"Malouda has an ankle problem," said Ancelotti during the pre-match press conference.
"He twisted it in the last game and had a scan yesterday. He will have another one today but we don't think it's a big problem."
The good news is that Drogba has probably finally recovered from the virus which has affected him during the last two matches and Alex returns.
Spartak will be missing striker Ari and defender Stranzl with thigh injuries.
So come on Chels! Get the business done and let’s get some of these kids out on the pitch for the final group games!
