Torres: I wanted to get out last summer

Chelsea striker, Fernando Torres revealed today that he had asked to leave Liverpool last summer but was talked out of it. The Independent report that “He made it clear” that he didn’t want to stay in Merseyside in a meeting with Liverpool suits. His comments put new light on to what was a sensational, last minute transfer deal.
Sid Lowe, a well-liked and respected journalist with good contacts based in Spain, also claimed just days ago that Torres “Didn’t want to miss out on a move to Chelsea again” – so should the move have been such a shock to fans as it actually was? This won’t go down well with Liverpool fans and do nothing for relations between themselves and their club.
"I felt from last summer that I needed to do a step forward in my career and for my ambition as a footballer," said Torres.

Past wooing
Torres also remarked on previous conversations with Chelsea during earlier attempts to sign him:
“Also, I wanted to join because Chelsea always have shown a big respect for me. They really want me and it is important when you have the support of the people in the club, and the support of the fans who always showed respect to me when I came to Stamford Bridge. Now I am very happy to be a Chelsea player."
Another Level
"I am joining a team that is at the top level. There is not another level after Chelsea.
"I am joining with big names like Terry, Lampard, Drogba and Anelka and I can be part of this great team.”
Not let a bad word be said
"It is like destiny. It is not perfect for me but we will see what happens and I only have good words about Liverpool. They made me a top player and gave me the chance to play at the top level. I will never say anything bad about Liverpool. I have been very happy there, but now the history is different and I am playing for Chelsea. If I have the chance to play, I will do my best for Chelsea and, hopefully, I can score."
Champions League
The Independent also comment that Torres has spoken of “feeling it is as if you don't exist" and "going backwards" if you’re not playing Champions League football.
"The Champions League is a big ambition and all the footballers want to play in it. It is a very important competition. But also Chelsea have the chance every season to win all the trophies that they play for, so when you have the chance to play in a team like this, you cannot say no." And there is the nub.

Liverpool received the a good but cheap price for you so all parties should be happy. To much negativity around you leaving. You will still be a liverpool legend in most supporters eyes.
Just try and miss when you play us.

"It is born out of hypocrisy and fundamental insecurity. There have been two kids on the block for the past 12 years. Suddenly, there is a third and that one is threatening to be more successful than the others and they don’t like it." P Kenyon.
